Leiter Struggles Against Mets; August 1, 2014

The Threshers 3 game winning streak came to an end when they returned home Friday night. Mark Leiter was coming off 2 solid starts where he had allowed only 2 runs in 16 innings, one his complete game shutout of Charlotte on July 20th. Threshers; May 29, 2014

This game followed what is becoming a familiar theme as some of the starting pitchers improve. Starter pitches well. Offense struggles. Defense plays unevenly. Threshers lose. Tonight, the victim was Jeb Stefan. He pitched a season high 6 innings, allowed 2 hits, 1 unearned run, 2 walks, 2 strike outs, and 1 wild pitch. He left trailing 1-0. One other bright spot was Lino Martinez. He enetered the 8th inning with one out and the bases loaded. Threshers; May 12, 2014

The Threshers hosted the Jupiter Hammerheads tonight.  Colin Kleven got the start and pitched well.  Even though he was roughed up for 3 runs in the 1st inning, he was in command of his pitches.  He threw 27 pitches in the first, but 20 were strikes, and 6 of the 7 batters were faced with first pitch strikes.  Kleven settled down and pitched 6 more solid, scoreless innings.
