May 26th Discussion Post

This is where you rant and rave. First, last night’s scores

Lehigh Valley wins 2-1.

Reading wins 6-0.

Clearwater loses 10-8.

Lakewood wins 9-2.

The big question is, does Jon Singleton replace Ryan Howard in the lineup in July or August of this season?

Weekly Notes Column, May 23rd

Welcome to this week’s edition of the weekly notes column. Before digging into this week’s notes, I wanted to kind of throw a warning out there. Over the next few weeks, I may begin to play around with different themes/layouts for the site. I’ve actually brightened the color red in the header so it stands out a bit more, but like anything you become overly familiar with, sometimes you want something new. I’ve never been fully in love with the wordpress templates available, I’ve tried to make them work because I don’t have the skills or abilities to build and maintain a website with regular HTML. That said, I did explore the possibility of having a custom wordpress form built, but the price tag is prohibitive. Because of that, I may just tinker with other themes and layouts. Don’t worry, the content will remain the same, and if I do go with a bigger change and move stuff around, I’ll create a road map so you can find everything. So the takeaway from that story; if you click on the page in the next few weeks and it looks really weird, don’t tweak out, just give me some time and I’ll do my best. Thanks. Now, onto the notes…

First I post last night’s box scores, then you talk about the games and whatever else you want, as long as its prospect related.

Rough night for Trevor May.

Weekly Notes Column, May 16th.

The weekly notes column returns after a 2 week break, and I’m actually going to change things up a bit in terms of the way I attack this weekly writeup. I’m going to try and make the piece a bit more uniform every week, adding distinct sections that make it easy for me to write this in chunks and then publish it on Sunday night/Monday morning every week. All of the formatting should make sense as we progress through. So let’s just get right to it.

Now taking mailbag questions

Here’s something new. When I write my weekly notes column on Sunday, I figured that I’d solicit some reader emails/questions and add a mailbag on to the end, and do it on a weekly basis. I’ll probably only be able to answer a few questions, but I thought it would be something interesting to try. So, if you have a question about something prospect related, or want to hear my opinion on something, send an email to phuturephillies at gmail dot com and put MAILBAG in the title. If you don’t put mailbag in the title, I probably won’t read it. Try and make the questions specific, not just things like “do you think Domonic Brown is a good prospect”, because I’m going to spend most of my notes columns making comments about players in general. So give that a shot and we’ll see how it goes.

Jonathan Singleton homers in his debut

I was very high on Singleton this winter, so him being sent to Lakewood now makes me happy. It makes me even happier that he’s homered in his first game. Talk about it here, because I know that a few people here will make mention of it in 3 other unrelated previous postings.
