Over half way through the top 30 for 2011, and today we focus on prospects 17-19. I’ll cover 20-22 on Tuesday, 23-25 on Wednesday, 26-28 on Thursday, then 29-30 and the just missed prospects on Friday. After which I’ll open it up for emails and questions about the list, and I’ll post a mailbag next Monday. With that said, lets get to 17-19. Check below the fold..

My Top 30 Prospects for 2011: Part 5
My Top 30 Prospects for 2011: Part 4
I’ve outlined my top 10, and now things should get interesting as we move to spots 11-13. A few things to note before we continue. This list is my own, its my opinion, and I expect you to disagree in cases. My hope is that my case is outlined in a manner that makes sense, and you can at least understand why I picked player X in spot Y. If there are things that don’t make sense, I’m more than happy to explain in more detail. If I don’t get to it in the comments, I’ll answer any and all questions in the post top-30 mailbag. Enough yammering, lets get to it.
My Top 30 Prospects for 2011: Part 3
With prospects 1-6 in the books, we move on to the back of the top 10. Instead of only doing 3 prospects today, I’ll give you my reports for 7-10. Also, I had the idea that when I am finished with my writeups for all 30 prospects, plus sleepers, if anyone has specific questions about why I ranked so and so in spot X or Y, I’ll do a mailbag. So if I don’t reply to something in the comments in each post (and my time to do so is limited), I’ll handle everything at the end. Now, we move forward.
My Top 30 Prospects for 2011: Part 2
Welcome back! Yesterday I unleashed my introduction along with prospects 1-3 in my 2011 Top 30. In this edition, I unveil prospects 4-6. I’ll spare you the rambling, lets just get right to it.
My Top 30 Prospects for 2011: Part 1
Hello all. Welcome to my top 30 prospects writeup for the 2011 season. Unlike past seasons, I will be writing up my 30 prospects in multiple parts, in the hopes of promoting more discussion. Before I get to my rankings, I thought it would be helpful to give a brief overview of the system, and more importantly, a brief overview of how I put my rankings together. A list means nothing unless you know how it was put together, the criteria used, etc etc. Before we move on, I also want to point out that my top 30 list is available in the Maple Street Press 2011 Phillies Annual, which I recommend you pick up. The team over at thegoodphight.com put it together this year, and it figures to be the best edition yet.
So, lets kick start this party, check below the fold.
Updated schedule
Hi everyone. My new laptop arrived today, which means my life should be restored later this evening. Here is the plan for the next few weeks.
This weekend: I will be updating and publishing a few more profiles prepared by Dave.
Monday: Introduction + prospects 1-3 of my top 30
Tuesday-Friday: 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15 in my top 30 + any news that would arise
The following week: 16-18, 19-21, 22-24, 25-27, 28-30 + just missed the cut + sleepers + any news that comes up
Then we’ll be in full on spring training coverage mode. When games start and prospects make news, we’ll post that, as well as covering minor league re-assignments and box scores from the minor league games, when available.
If you are going to spring training and would like to contribute content for the site, send me an email to phuturephillies at gmail dot com and I will tell you how you can help.
Thanks again everyone, and I’m looking forward to rolling out my Top 30. I expect that, all told, it will be over 20,000 words this year. Another plus to breaking it up into 2 weeks worth of coverage.
Make or break prospects in 2011
My plan was to get my Top 30 prospects off the ground, but after spilling a glass of water on my laptop keyboard, I’m working on backup resources for a few days. My goal is to have the first installment (intro, prospects 1-3) up on Monday of next week. Until then, we’ll do an open discussion. The topic I wanted to throw out there is prospects facing key seasons in 2011. Essentially these will be prospects who, if they don’t have a big season in 2011, are in danger of falling off the map. So, discuss away, and I hope to be back up and running soon. Thanks.
Wrapping up the 2011 Reader Top 30
Kevin Walter takes the last spot in the 2011 Reader Top 30, edging out Scott Mathieson. This concludes the 2011 edition, which was an improvement over last years, which was an improvement over 2008’s version. Thank you to everyone who participated and voted, and for providing plenty of feedback and conversation along the way. Now that we’ve come up with a community list, I’ll give everyone a chance to submit their own personal top 30’s, which I’ll then catalog on a new page at the top of the site for reference. Check below the fold for more.
2011 Reader Top 30, #30
And now we’ve arrived. Its the final spot in the 2011 Reader Top 30. I want to thank everyone for their participation, we drew an average of over 500 votes per round, definitely up from last year’s turnout.
