The Phillies announced their Arizona Fall League participants today.

OF Dante Nori (Reading), INF Aroon Escobar (Reading), Catcher Luke Davis (Jersey Shore), Catcher Kehden Hettiger (Reading), RHP Ryan Dromboski (Reading), RHP Estibenzon Jimenez (Reading), LHP Kevin Warunek (Reading), RHP, Keegan Batka (Reading), RHP Jose Pena (Jersey Shore).  Additionally, the Phillies will send a hitting coach and trainer to round out their contingent.

Dromboski is the only starter among the pitchers.  Hettiger will be coming off the 7-day IL.  Davis and Pena will be coming off the 60-day IL.

One noticeable absence from the group is Aidan Miller.  This doesn’t mean he couldn’t be added somewhere down the road.  If you look at his recent return as a rehab assignment, you would have noticed that Miller has not played a complete game, nor has he played on back-to-back days (5th, 8th, 10th, 12th).  In the past, it has been an organizational requirement that a player play in back-to-back complete games before returning to full time play.  I don’t know if that is still the case.  In any event, you might like to watch how Miller is used during Reading’s playoff run.  While winning would be nice, the Phillies have  viewed playoff games as a continuation of player development.  (I watched the GCL Phillies lose a 3-game finals series because they stuck to their rotation schedule rather than pitch Sixto in game three.  Just sayin’)
