Box Score Recap (6/5/24)

Lehigh Valley won.  Reading was postponed.  Jersey Shore lost, Otto Kemp hit 2 HRs.  Clearwater won behind a solid effort by Micah Ottenbreit and HRs by Devin Saltiban and Keaton Anthony.  The FCL Phillies, DSL Phillies Red, and DSL Phillies White were not scheduled to play on Wednesday.

Lehigh Valley (25-32) beat Buffalo, 3-1.  Michael Mercado pitched 4.2 innings and gave up one run on 2 its and 2 walks.  He struck out six.  The run came on a solo HR.  He threw 87 pitches and left the game with no one on base.  Taylor Lehman pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with no hits, no walks, 3 strikeouts.  Jonah Dipoto pitched a scoreless inning allowing one hit.  Andrew Bellatti pitched one scoreless inning giving up a hit, walk, and striking out two.  Max Lazar pitched one scoreless inning, striking out one and earned his 4th save.

The IronPigs scored a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Cody Roberts.  They took the lead with a run in the sixth on an RBI double by Roberts.  They added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single by Scott Kingery.

Jersey Shore (28-24) lost to Greensboro, 6-5.  Estibenzon Jimenez pitched 4.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk.  He struck out six.  Rehabbing Jordi Martinez stranded an inherited runner and pitched 0.1 innings.  He gave up a solo HR the next inning and left the game after an injury delay.  Danny Wilkinson pitched two innings and gave up an unearned run on one hit and two walks.  He struck out three.  Andrew Baker pitched one scoreless inning allowing a hit and striking out two.

The BlueClaws scored early.  They plated a run in the first inning on a solo HR (3) by Otto Kemp.  They stretched their lead to four runs with 3 runs in the second on a solo HR (2) by Ryan Leitch and RBI singles by Zach Arnold and Kemp.  The lead disappeared and the ‘Claws scored a run in the eighth on a solo HR (4) by Kemp but fell one run short.

The Threshers scored 2 runs in the first inning on a 2-run single by Luis Caicuto.  They added a run in the sixth on a solo HR (6) by Devin Saltiban.  They added an insurance run in the eighth on a solo HR (1) by Keaton Anthony.  They tacked on 3 runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Aidan Miller, an RBI single by Saltiban, and a bases loaded walk by Anthony.

  1. Cade Fergus moved up to LHV, even for a short time, from the Shore seems odd. Good for him though.
    Saltiban continues to improve on his season.
    Lazar and Mercado both appear ready to help in the majors, if needed.
