  1. 9/07/2021 – LHP Erubiel Armenta assigned to Reading from Jersey Shore

This might be a huge move. This kid is young,21, for AA but they are going to see if he can continue striking people out. 75% strikeout rate this year. This is also his first year playing as a professional.

    1. Denny….agree.
He has good size and his stuff seems mystifying to the A hitters.
Want to see how he does vs AA hitters.
Also like that he can get his FB up to 95, has a very deceptive delivery where he hides the ball well, and has a strange 78/79 mph change-up or maybe it is a late breaking curve… not sure.

    2. Denny…..don’t you find it rather odd…..21-year old LHP out of Mexico….and not on the Dodgers’ radar. Every Mexican LHP kid is a Fernando and Dodger fan.
And the Dodgers have plenty of scouts down there and inside information on many of those kids….like current kid Julio Urias.
He pitched as a 20 year old in the Mexican Pacific Winter League.

Just seems strange he slipped thru their fingers.

  2. I would like/hope to see Simon Muzziotti get promoted to Reading, and Jared Carr get bumped up to Jersey Shore soon.

    1. Carr could end up being an interesting day three pick. He’s got some tools. He played at a D2 school, and I’m not sure what kind of coaching he got there. Even though he’s already 22 YO, he may still have a good deal of learning left in him.
I’d be happy (and not even surprised) if he ends up similar to another recent Shepherd University alumn. Colorado took Brenton Doyle on day two of the 2019 draft. He’s now a top 10 prospect in the Rockies organization. Carr has lots of similarities to Doyle: (at least) avg power, plus speed, good glove in any OF spot. He’s also had success with a wood bat in summer leagues over the past few years.

      1. I’ve been keeping an eye on Carr; he was an interesting pick. The numbers are good but the K’s are starting to pile up so that could be an indication he won’t fare well at higher levels. Plus since he’s already 22 he can’t really afford to be too raw.

I don’t know that it’s necessary to push the just drafted guys to higher levels. Next year he can start at JS and hopefully mash his way to Reading.
