  6. Wow, I love the optimism on the number of Phillies wins. Both FiveThirtyEight.com and FanGraphs have the Phillies at 80 – 82 and BP has the Phillies with 83.4 wins. Given the large variability in the PECOTA’s Phillies rankings, I’m going with (partial list)

  7. There are projections for two 100 game winners (Dodgers/Padres) in the NL West. How many times has that happened? It can’t be many. As for the Phillies the product on the field is vastly superior to 2020 but a brutal division keeps their win total down to 85 wins.

    1. One Vegas over/under book has Phillies at 80.5.
      I think they can get to at least 84.

    2. Hawkeye – That is an interesting question. In 1993, when the Phillies went to the WS, both the Braves and Giants (both were in the west at the time) won over 100 games.

    3. Don’t know the last time two teams were projected to win 100 games. The last time two teams in the same division won 100 games was 2018 – Red Sox 108, Yankees 100

      2. It is crazy, but the Dodgers might literally end up being the best regular season team of all time. It wouldn’t surprise me if they won 116 or 117 games. They are that good. I mean David Price can’t crack the rotation. Mind blown!

      3. Jim, I forgot about 2018. For two teams in the same division to win 100 games the other teams must be horrible.

  8. This Alec Bohm – man, he is some kind of player – a complete throw-back to a time when good hitters hit to all fields, got sac flies when needed, and fouled off pitches until he got one to drive or worked a walk (yes, I’m describing today’s game). He could really be SPECIAL! Love the guy.

    1. Catch, hard to believe Bohm has played just a relative handful of MLB games. He almost seems like a reliable veterans.

      Loved his spearing the high line drive for an out. He’s athletic. Now, with all of his hard work, maybe he becomes an acceptable defensive 3B.
