The Phillies signed non-drafted free agent, catcher Willie Estrada. He will be assigned to GCL Phillies East. He is a senior out of Southeastern University. He was honored as the best defensive catcher in the country by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. After graduation, he played in Canada for Regina. (That’s 2 new catchers this week.)
My wife and I would like to thank all who kept her in your thoughts and prayers the past few days. Unfortunately, we still need them. We got bad news today. I shan’t go into the details, but malignant won out over B9. Thanks again for …

Sorry to hear the news on your wife.
It is a very difficult emotional time right now….minds are racing in all direction, and then there is the anxiety that goes along with the fear that sits in the pit of the gut.
There are many support groups out there to help your wife and also yourself, as the spouse.
If she is so inclined….she cam join a group I have been with for 7 years..flaxseeedoil chat group…the protocol is the Budwig Protocol….originator and founder Dr Johanna Budwig…moderator is a woman named Sandra Olson….if your wife is so inclined she can google any of that to see if she is interested.
I will pray for you and your wife..

I’m sorry Jim, real life can really stink some times. Stay strong. Good luck to you and your wife.
Baseball is still a great thing to get your mind off of real life. That’s what I tell my wife!
Howard was hit around last night. Hopefully that quiets the “bring Howard up to the majors now” talk. He needs more minor league innings to develop his stuff. Promoting him too soon will stop that development.
Morales on the other hand threw 4 shutout innings to continue his progression. He’s a young kid with a great arm but he needs to progress.
Jim – we all support you, I hope you feel our strength.

Jim, praying and wishing for the best. My mom was diagnosed with a rare cancer in May 2009 and had our family very nervous and not very optimistic based on the details. Three months ago we celebrated her ten year anniversary of having beaten cancer and she has a clean bill of health today. I wish and pray for you both.

Jim. Prayers and thoughts are in our heart for your Wife and You. Stay Strong.
Howard struggles continue, seem to get squeezed in 1st couple of innings and then high heat but pretty close to down the middle does not work in AA. Sure he’ll adjust but needs more innings against AA batters . Love his mechanics just needs more time in development and not be pushed , not a lot of innings, got to many pitchers on IL.

Struggles continue??? He has a 3.32 ERA and is striking out nearly 12 batters per nine innings since being promoted to AA.

Murray, attended the game last night in Reading and I must agree with you, Spencer has a ways to go. I never saw the speed that others have reported. 97 was tops and only occurred once in the 1st inning. 94-95-96 most of the time with the heat. Off speed 80-84 change-up 75. 81 pitches 3K’s, 3 BB, 2HRs.
Bohm and Stephan hit good. Bohm played 1st and seemed to handle it ok. Bohm needs to mature attitude wise. He had several discussions with the umpire and I thought the diversion took him out of the game with predictable results. It is not the first time I’ve seen this either. Not really impressed with anyone else.

One outing doesn’t define a pitcher. In his entire career, he’ll have several bad outings. He’s fine.
