I mentioned yesterday that it looked like Rixon Wingrove may have deked a base runner. Today, the legend grew. He was getting ready to bat and was talking to Dana Parks through the fence. Sal Agostinelli walked up and said shouldn’t you be paying attention to the game. Rix replied, Nah, it’s all okay, I got this mate. Later, I was at the fence. The Phillies trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth. Wingrove was leading off. While he was taking practice swings, he says, How you doin, mate? I replied, “I’m okay … oh? Are you new?” He looked at me like I was nuts and I quickly said, “Just kidding, I know who you are”. Then I asked him if he had deked the runner in the ninth inning yesterday. He smiled from ear to ear and said, Yeah, I was talking to him and he couldn’t understand me with my accent, mate. Then he went up and stroked a lead off double to start their 5-run rally.
