Friday, the Phillies played a night game in Tampa versus the Yankees. A couple guys from major league camp stepped down to pitch in the two A games. Nola and Knapp formed the battery in the higher of the two A games. Nola struck out the first five batters he faced and was perfect through two innings. He gave up a double over the center fielder’s head to start the third but escaped without allowing the runner to score. His goal was to throw 90-100 pitches and he ended his afternoon after his 91st pitch. He parted having been touched for just a 2-run HR. Continue reading Spring Training 2019 (March 23rd)

Thursday, the Phillies stomped the Braves in two minor league games at the Complex. Mike Micucci’s Group Three team won 8-1, I think. Pat Borders’ Group Four team shut out the Braves, 3-0. Continue reading Spring Training 2019 (March 21st)
Spring Training 2019 (March 19th)

Spring Training 2019 (March 18th)
It’s been ten days since my last spring training post. Sorry for the long absence, I was under the weather, and even though I’ve been back at the Complex the past couple days, those visits were of a shorter duration. I managed to stay until the end of three minor league games today, so let me get started with that, then I’ll try to catch up on some earlier things.

The Phillies made their a few more roster moves during the week. They optioned RHP Enyel De Los Santos and Edgar Garcia, LHP Ranger Suarez and Austin Davis, and 3B Mitch Walding to Lehigh Valley; reassigned LHP Cole Irvin and Tyler Gilbert minor league camp; and released 2B Emmanuel Marrero, 1B Quincy Nieporte, RHP Victor Sobil, 3B Jesus Henriquez, and 1B Edwin Rodriguez.

The Phillies made their first spring roster moves over the weekend. Infielder Arquimedes Gamboa and RHP Adonis Media have been optioned to Reading. Infielder Malquin Canelo, catcher Deivy Grullon, 1B/OF Austin Listi, outfielder Mickey Moniak, and LHP JoJo Romero have been reassigned to minor league camp.
