Harold Arauz, 21, Acquired from Houston in 2015; 15 starts; 3-6 with a 3.89ERA; 74IP 64H 23BB 64K; 4HR allowed; .229 opp avg; 1.18WHIP; 1.52 GO/AO; 2.8BB/7.8K per 9; .232 vs LHH, .226 vs RHH, .206 last 30 days; Arauz recently missed about 3 weeks on the DL, however has generally had a successful year.

Seranthony Dominguez, 21, Signed as a free agent in 2012; 9 starts between Williamsport and Lakewood; 3-3 with a 3.45ERA: 45.1IP 30H 17BB 41K; 2HR allowed; 3.5BB/8.3K per 9; .234 vs LHH, .216 vs RHH, .188 last 30 days; Domniguez has been effective moving into the Lakewood rotation in late June

Tyler Gilbert, 22, Phils 6th round pick in 2015; 20 starts; 6-8 with a 3.84ERA; 117.1IP 123H 24BB 94K; 9HR allowed; .267 opp avg; 1.25 WHIP; 1.03 GO/AO; 1.8BB/7.2K per 9; .265 vs LHH, .268 vs RHH, .281 last 30 days; Gilbert has been steady, yet not overpowering,  all season with a clunker thrown in every 8-10 starts.

Franklyn Kilome, 21, Signed as a free agent in 2013; 19 starts; 4-8 with a 4.14ERA: 95.2IP 100H 43BB 107K; 5HR allowed; .270 opp avg; 1.49 WHIP; 1.02GO/AO; 4.0BB/10.1K per 9; .275 vs LHH, .264 vs RHH, .283 last 30 days; After a horrific start, Kilome has steadily improved all season.

Jose Taveras, 22, Signed as a free agent in 2013; 21games (16 starts); 5-8 with a 3.77ERA; 112.1IP 104H 17BB 124K; .245 opp avg; 1.08WHIP; 0.73 GO/AO; 1.4BB/9.9K per 9; .239 vs LHH, .249 vs RHH, .274 last 30 days; Taveras has opened eyes this season and has one of the best BB/K ratios in the organization, an extremely important stat.

Alberto Tirado, 21, Acquired from Toronto in 2015; 19 games (8 starts) between CW and Lakewood; 48.2IP 44H 35BB 72K; .244 opp avg; 1.62 WHIP; 0.60 GO/AO; 6.5BB/13.3K per 9; .266 vs LHH, .222 vs RHH, .182 last 30 days; As a starter: 4-1 with a 2.89ERA; .222 opp avg; 1.29 WHIP; The Phillies seem to have found something with Tirado starting.  He went backwards down to Lakewood, but the margin for error as starter seems to have helped him.  Continues to have overpowering stuff.

Williamsport

Bailey Falter, 19, Phils 5th round pick in 2015; 9 starts; 1-5 with a 3.24ERA; 41.2IP 39H 11BB 41K; 2.4BB/8.9K per 9; .236 opp avg; 1.20 WHIP; 1.56 GO/AO;.192 vs LHH, .257 vs RHH, .200 last 30 days; Falter has pitched very well and is on course to begin ’17 in the Lakewood rotation

Cole Irvin, 22, Phils 5th round pick in 2016; 7 games (4 starts); 3-1 with a 1.82ERA; 29.2IP 28H 3BB 25K; .239 opp avg; 1.04 WHIP; 1.28 GO/AO; 0.9BB/7.6K per 9; .262 vs LHH, .227 vs RHH; Having pitched major Division One college baseball, Irvin is advanced for this league and he has shown it.

Adonis Medina, 19, Signed as a free agent in 2013; 10 starts; 4-2 with a 2.17ERA; 49.2IP 32H 18BB 22K; .182 opp avg; 1.01WHIP; 1.76 GO/AO; 3.3BB/4.0K per 9; .207 vs LHH, .157 vs RHH; .259 last 30 days; Medina has been extremely effective albeit with a very low strikeout rate, which may present long term concern.

JoJo Romero, 19, Phils 4th round pick in 2016; 7 starts; 1-1 with a 2.51ERA; 28.2IP 29H 7BB 19K; .266 opp avg; 1.26WHIP; 3.85 GO/AO; 2.2BB/6.0K per 9; .233 vs LHH, .278 vs RHH, .250 last 30 days; The Phils are watching Romero’s workload closely because of his JuCo innings this year.  He has thrown well.

Felix Paulino, 21, Signed as a free agent in 2013; 9 starts; 1-3 with a 3.45ERA; 47IP 49H 10BB 32K; .265 opp avg; 1.26 WHIP; 2.60 GO/AO; 1.9BB/6.1K per 9; .247 vs LHH ; .280 vs RHH; .209 last 30 days; Bumpy beginnings to the season for Pauino, but his last 4 starts have all been very good.

Ranger Suarez, 20, Signed as a free agent in 2011; 9 starts, 5-1 with a 2.72ERA; 49.2IP 42H 13BB 35K; 4HR allowed; .230 opp avg; 1.13 WHIP; 1.37 GO/AO; .208 vs LHH, .239 vs RHH; .198 last 30 days; 2.4BB/6.3K per 9; Impressive numbers for Suarez who has shown nice progression.

GCL

Sixto Sanchez, 18, Signed as a free agent in 2014; 9 starts; 4-0 with an 0.42ERA; 43IP 27H 8BB 33K; 0HR allowed; .188 opp avg; 0.81 WHIP; 1.53 GO/AO; 1.7BB/6.9K per 9; .156 vs LHH, .196 vs RHH, .173 last 30 days; Stat lines don’t get much better than this.

Nick Fanti, 19, Phils 31st round pick in 2015; 9 games (7 starts); 6-0 with a 1.69ERA; 42.2IP 29H 8BB 53K; .187 opp avg; 0.87 WHIP; 0.63 GO/AO; 1.7BB/11.2K per 9; .231 vs LHH, .172 vs RHH, .182 last 30 days.  Fanti has been excellent.

Mauricio Llovera, 20, Signed as a free agent in 2014; 8 starts; 5-1 with a 2.37ERA; 38IP 31H 11BB 40K; .225 opp avg; 1.11WHIP; 0.84 GO/AO; 2.6BB/9.5K per 9; .273 vs LHH, .193 vs RHH, .197 last 30 days; Llovera has thrown extremely well

Will Stewart, 19, Signed as a free agent in 2015; 8 games (5 starts); 1-2 with a 5.17ERA; 31.1IP 21H 17BB 24K; .218 opp avg; 1.31 WHIP; 1.39 GO/AO; 4.9BB/6.9K per 9; .250 vs LHH, .205 vs RHH, .230 last 30 days; Too many walks for a pitcher that hasn’t been overpowering.

Kevin Gowdy, 18, Phils 2nd round pick in 2016; 3 starts; 0-1 with a 4.50ERA; 8IP 9H 2BB 8K; Limited work thus far for the high draft pick.

  1. I assume guys like Kilome, Taveras, Gilbert, Tirado, and Cole Irvin would be in Clearwater next year.

  2. A lot of good young arms and we all know we need a lot of good arms. As they move up, injuries occur or level of competence is reached. Having a a lot of good young arms is the key to success. Some of them will flame out but some will succeed. Hard to detect at their young age which is which.

  3. Sixto may be my personal favorite prospect in the organization. Cant say enough good things about him.

  4. The next advanced per development Cole Irvin did what he needed to do at a lower level. I see him in lakewood. Everyone in lakewood gets moved up but Tirado. He Needs ings for a least half a yr.It will get crowded at lakewood or clearwater.
