Always on top of the IronPigs news, Allentown Morning Call reporter Jeff Schuler was kind enough to pass along the news that relief pitcher Brian Gordon has re-signed with the Phillies organization where he threw in 40 games in both long relief and as a set up man. Gordon was among the most reliable Lehigh Valley relievers over the course of the season with a 3.46 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP.
According to Schuler, who spoke to a Phillies official, Melvin Dorta, Ozzie Chavez, Ehren Wasserman, Brian Mazone, Ty Taubenheim, and Alex Concepcion all will not be coming back to the organization.
And….41 days until Pitchers and Catchers.
Well not the biggest news but at least he was a reliable pitcher. All i can say is thank god taubenheim is gone cause i cant stand him.

News on Gordon, kind of figured those other players weren’t coming back , because of the possible replacements signed. According to who signed I figure 7 OF’s (including D. Brown) 8 IF’s with 2 1B, and 20 pitcher candidates, it will be seen as to the final roster at opening.

The question becomes, ‘Without Brian Mazone, should the ‘Pigs even bother to field a squad this year?’

With the current roster in Philly, Dom looks like he’ll likely start there if he has a good ST.
