Sorry for the lack of updates. I had been having some computer troubles that I finally got resolved. I’m sure you’ve all been faithfully following along the last few weeks so I’ll recap Williamsport’s last two weeks and the past week for GCL.

The shortseason teams are in full swing, so let’s get to the recaps. GCL, as usual, has missed a few games due to the rain.

It’s that time of year again, so let’s get right to it.
Williamsport : 5-4, 1 GB in the NYPL Pinckney division
Williamsport beats State College 15-2
Leandro Castro got the year off on the right note by going 5-6 with a HR, 2 RBI and 2 R. TJ Warren also had a big night going 3-5 with a 2B, 3B, 3 RBI and 3 R. Catcher Jean Rodriguez was 3-5 with 2 RBI and a R while Francisco Murillo added two doubles and 3 RBI. Hewitt started the season with a 1/4 night that included an RBI, R and 2 Ks. Siulman Lebron got the win in his first start stateside. The 22 year old righty went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 ER on 6 H and 1 BB while striking out 6. Massingham, Long and Grieve went the rest of the way without allowing a hit.
New International Players In Spring Training – 2009
Each year the Phillies bring a host of new International players to spring training, mostly from their complex league teams in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. This article will summarize some notes on all the new players that have not yet made their debuts in U.S.-based minor leagues. Some of these players may get sent back to the DSL or VSL leagues to start the season, though most of them usually end up on a GCL roster. The list of players is based on the minor league work groups posted here on PhuturePhillies. It is possible there are a few others in camp that were not on that initial list of workgroups. Affiliate Review: GCL Phillies
Today I’m going to start my reviews of the 6 Phillies minor league affiliates. I was originally planning to do something more in depth, but I haven’t quite finished my new system yet. Its to the point where I can use it to discuss the players in fairly good detail, but I still have more work to do before I churn out Top 30’s and get into the final analysis of our prospects heading into 2009. So what I’m going to do is talk about the 5 best performances for hitters and the 5 best performances for pitchers at the level, and then cover any high profile players who didn’t fall in that range. It should be easy to follow, so lets get started.

The Crosscutters went 4-3 this week to move to 35-33 on the season. That leaves them in fourth place in the NYP Pinckney division, 7 GB of first place Batavia and 1/2 GB of third place Auburn. They have one more week left on their schedule.

The Crosscutters finished the week 2-2 after having the first three days off for the All-Star Break. They remain one game over .500 at 31-30, which leaves them in a tie for third place in the NYP Pinckney division, 7.5 GB of Batavia.

Williamsport and GCL Weekly Report (8/11-8/17)
Williamsport
The Crosscutters kept in line with their season by going 4-4 this week. They remain one game over .500 at 29-28. They remain in fourth place in the NYP Pinckney division, 5.5 GB of first place Batavia. This week the team bid farewell to another key memberwhen Travis D’Arnaud was promoted to Lakewood.

Williamsport
The Crosscutters went 2-3 this week, leaving their season record at 25-24. They remain in fourth place of the NYPL Pinckney division, 7 GB of first place Jamestown and 3.5 GB of third place Auburn. They now have 19 games left in their season, 8 on the road and 11 at home.
