1. Aroon Escobar looks like the real deal. Still only rookie ball but wow he is showing great hit and power tools for a 19yo. Could we have actually hit it big on two LatAm signings? We are certainly due!
2. Aidan Miller was named the 21st best prospect in MLB by BA yesterday. Exciting. He really seems like a future star.

Agreed on MIller. Still can’t believe he fell to us in the draft.
Assuming the Phillies go after someone like Luis Robert, which prospects would y’all be willing to part with?
Miller and Painter are probably untouchables at this point, but man oh man do I hope they find a way to keep either Crawford or Caba.

Sometimes, a prospect’s reputation exceeds (even greatly exceeds) his actual value. That’s my feeling with Crawford. Call it instinct, but as athletic as he is, I just doubt he’ll ever be more than an average regular in the big leagues (that has value, for sure, but it doesn’t make a guy untouchable). If I’m trying to make a big trade, he’s one of the first guys I dangle in front of the team I want as a trade partner.

I would part with Crawford in a possible trade for Robert; but not in a trade for a reliever at the deadline. The OF needs strengthening. If Abel and Crawford brings back Robert, I’d do that deal in a minute. Maybe add a lesser prospect.

I don’t like the fit with Luis Robert and I would not give up much unless they took back Castellanos, which seems unlikely.
Robert has a high K rate and low OB%. He has great power and speed and plays really good defense. So clearly an upgrade over Castellanos. But I would not overpay for him.
Abel for Robert? Maybe, but only because I am really down on Abel. McGarry for Robert, sure. I would NOT consider any of the following for Robert: Painter, Miller, Crawford, Caba, Tait, Aldegheri, Klassen, Mercado, NPG.

Once the teams soon start their mid-season promos…..I would hope both Caba and Escobar move up to CLW.
And wonder when Wen Hui Pan takes the mound in live action.

Escobar is exciting and he has great bloodlines. Fingers crossed! I’m sure he’ll get to move over to the big field at CWater for the 2nd half. Then we’ll know more. Not sure if Cabo will move up since he’s so young.

Interesting things about Alirio Ferrebus … he hit is 3rd homerun of the year in his first game!
Game 1 was suspended – he then hit 2 HR in “game 2” – yesterdays game was the completion of game one, so when he hit an HR, it is listed as his first, but in chronological order, it’s his 3rd!
Regardless, great start for a 2023 international signing … a listed 6′ 2″, 174 lb catcher.

He is one of the older ones on the Red team, turns 19 in Sep…so he will need to continue this pace in the DSL

I see the Phillies traded cash to TB for Ruben Cardenas. I never heard of him but his stats look decent. It seems he’s a little old and is still in AAA. Is this why the Phillies got him for a song? Does he have a real shot at helping the big team some day or is he just in LV to help a bad team compete?

That made me think of Adrian Cardenas. Here’s what Adrian is up to now – pretty impressive (I recall that he had been a concert pianist, so this is really not all that surprising):
Adrian graduated Summa Cum Laude from NYU with undergraduate degrees in creative writing and philosophy, and then later received his M.F.A in film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He’s currently an adjunct professor in screenwriting at the University of Miami.

When the Phillies made that trade sending him to the As way back when…there was some angst from the fans. joe Blanton did however work out well.

Pouaka Grego or Saltiban. Which is a better prospect? I did a personal top 10 last week and had a hard time deciding but listed Pouka Grego slightly higher. But that is scouting the box scores which I don’t like to do. If I had to do it over I would list Saltiban higher as he seems more versatile with more power.
So has anybody seen them a decent amount of time to do an eye test? Jim or Potter or anybody?

Pouka-Grego looks to be a 2b only so that hurts his value, as good a hitter as he appears to be.

Saltiban has the better athletic profile with more power. Both have very good plate discipline. NPG seems to have a better hit tool. Both players are only 19.
If Saltiban doesn’t make enough contact, his other skills won’t matter nearly as much and NPG could be the better player. If Saltiban does make enough contact, his ceiling is extremely high.
For now, it’s a very close call.

anyone have any clue why Rickardo Perez was suspended for all of 2023? It’s like a gigantic mystery.
