Several interesting talking points looking back at the time period of 4/17-4/23….Carlos Tocci seems to be getting the hang of Lakewood, albeit expectedly without power…Very nice to see Tommy Joseph rounding into form….Any Spring Training excitement about Larry Greene Jr. has dissipated quickly…Jesse Biddle, ’nuff said….Greg Smith should get some attention the next time the Phils need a spot starter….Seth Rosin with a nice re-initiation into the organization, while Kenny Giles keeps doing what he does (19K’s in 9IP)…Jay Johnson was on my list of players to watch pre-season. That is not working out so far with one of the worst weeks in “Hot or Not” history.

When do you think that Mark Leiter will get a promotion? Will Andrew Anderson replace Artega in the Lakewood rotation?

I think its only a matter of time for Arteaga and Anderson should be the leading candidate. I would be surprised if Leiter was not in CLearwater come late June.

Biddle, Tocci, Crawford, and Joseph starting off the year well makes me happy. Aumont being an honorable mention is a surprise – MAYBE he FINALLY figured it out? Also, any chances Dan Child moves up out of Clearwater soon?
At what point are they going to cut their losses on LGJ? 0 for 17 is beyond sad.

I would temper any enthusiasm on Aumont. Nedds more than one decent week to forget months of horror. On Greene, he probably still has this year and next based on the large financial investment made, but there has been very little reason for legitimate hope.

Oh, I know. It’s still nice to see him doing well…but in a week he’ll probably have 5 walks in his first appearance.
As far as Greene: out of curiosity, I looked at the two who went before him – one (Brandon Martin) has apparently been released (he has no stats for the 2014 season), and Zach Cone has been pretty bad as well (.132 in 38 ABs after 12 games.)
At this point, calling the 3 picks before JBJ (knowing Philly could have had him instead…) a bust would be too kind, IMO.

They still haven’t given up on Hewitt, so I would think LGJ will stick around for a long time.

I’d like to personally start the Willians Astudillo fan club! I know he is old for Lakewood, he doesnt look like a ball player, but all this guy does is hit. Let’s move him up to clearwater, put him at catcher full time and see if we might have the next Chooch!

Willians, the guy strikeouts too much for me! (tic)
On a serious note…can he catch two games in a row with his knee issue from last year, or does he need a day off from catching?

I dont know… hitting .350 for the week.. thats actually a cold streak for Astudillo.

Nice to see Biddle back in top form, I better get up to Reading soon before he gets promoted. He should make the BA hot prospect list.

Has Biddle said anything about what changed for him these last two starts? They are so dramatically better than how he began the year.

A lot of it is consistency. When the delivery and arm slot are there the pitches look more similar out of the hand and the control is more there. He has had problems with losing the slot, which causes him to live up in the zone and the curveball can get longer and loopier.
