Box Score Recap – 4/20/2014

Maikel Franco had himself a fine day – 3-5 with a 2B and two runs scored. Cesar Jimenez, Kyle Simon and Hector Neris stymied the RailRiders for 8 innings, then Neris fell apart in the ninth. Jeremy Horst had to come on to get the last out as Neris was nearing 50 pitches for his outing.

All the other affiliates were off.

  1. It’s so weird to me that the rest of the teams were off on a Sunday. I kept refreshing my browser and hitting ctrl f5 thinking there was an error. Is this common in the minors?

  2. It looks like Cesar Jimenez is making his annual run at getting back to the big leagues for a short stay. Let’s hope Franco can build on his good day. Rumors of a Roman Quinn sighting in XST??

    1. last week, BaseballBetsy tweeted “Roman Quinn batting today on intrasquad game!”. I must have missed that he was back to some level of baseball activity.

  3. Wow. That’s great news on Quinn. Seems to be much earlier than most would’ve expected. I just hoping to see him at some point in 2nd half of season

    1. Probably just some hitting, but I didn’t expect it for a while either. I’m guessing he won’t do any strenuous running for the foreseeable future? I don’t know his overall progress though.
