Sometimes, especially early in the year, and especially on nights where there’s rain in Pennsylvania early in the year, you can look through a whole day of box scores and find about zero interesting things to talk about. And so you click on one of the guys and look at their stats and hope to become inspired. And sometimes that doesn’t work, and you write a limerick:
There once was a man from Aragua
Whose family was called Arteaga
He gave up one walk
Four runs and six knock(s)
And couldn’t inspire this blogga
Enjoy the weekend!

Brian Pointer’s OBP is lower than his batting average

Took me a minute to figure out he had a sac bunt. Early season stats are nifty.

It seems like it’s gonna be a looong year, but hey our milb teams scored one run yesterday (total).

If LWood doesn’t hit this will definately be a long year. That was the one team everyone was excited for . Hopefully, they put it together over the year.

We were excited about them last year too. Full season ball separates the men from the boys.

Zach green batting fourth surprise me. Think this will be big year in development of cozens, will get a better idea of what kind of hitter he will be, if any,

I can always count on Willie Austudillo to come through. There is not a K in his alphabet.

went to my first lakewood game last night. This were my observations:
The first thing that jumps out is this is physically a strange collection of players. Some are too tall, too short, too fat but overall not particularly athletic. I don’t see much of a grey area with many of these guys as they will either start to tap into their power potential or they will be out of the sport because they lack foot speed, defense and athleticism.
JP Crawford – all ready looks like a pro out there. No holes in his game. Looks good at plate and in field.
Carlos Tocci – his jersey sits on his shoulders like they would on a hanger would. Gets good read on balls in CF. But is over-matched against pitchers throwing in 90’s.
Dylan Cozens – big but gets off balance with off-speed pitches. More athletic than Zach Green.
Andrew Pullin – looks to have a sense of urgency out there. Doesn’t lumber like alot of guys. Very nice swing, decent range in field although arm strength doesn’t look particularly strong.
Larry Green – short and fat. If there is one adjective I could come up with its sloppy. His throws are off line he has poor approach to ball in field. He has enough lead in his rear that he really should be flashing power by now.
Gabriel Lino – I think there is some upside here. Good build and good overall approach to game.
Willians Astudillo – another player who looks like he could win pie eating contest.
Alejandro Arteaga – not a great night but I like how he battled and didn’t get discouraged. Was throwing in low 90’s.

92-95 was what I was hearing as well, touched a bit higher a couple of times. He apparently did not look sharp or up to the offseason reports. That being said, Giolito’s “off” is still dominating.
