2011 Reader Top 30, #19

Jon Pettibone easily took care of the voting for #18, so now we move forward. Before we do, just a note, I’ve now set up the comments of posts to where you can reply to someone’s comment directly. Its limited to 4 levels. It should hopefully make discussing something or a particular comment a bit easier. And now we go forward.

Three more profiles: Aumont, Cisco and De Fratus

Dave has been busy cranking out the profiles, this time churning out writeups on Phillippe Aumont, Mike Cisco and Justin De Fratus. Check them out, and give your thanks to Dave for taking the time to help create these valuable resources. As a reminder, you can find all of the profiles at the top of the site under, check this, the profiles page.

Aumont back to the bullpen

Per Matt Gelb, the Phillies have decided to move Phillippe Aumont back to the bullpen. They cite his comfort level there, and I suspect they’ve ascertained that he doesn’t have enough weapons to really make an impact in the rotation. 2010 was a lost year for Aumont in a lot of ways, but he did log plenty of innings, and I have to think that experience will prove beneficial. He’s still very young and still has plenty of time, but when looking at his value now, you have to examine it as a reliever. Discuss.

2011 Reader Top 30, #17

JC Ramirez pulled ahead of Matt Rizzotti to take the 16th spot, and we now move on to #17. Leandro Castro picked up quite a bit of write-in support, so we’ll add him.

2011 Reader Top 30, #16

The runoff vote for #14 and 15 was as close as the actual vote, but at some point the madness must end, and so Aaron Altherr takes spot #14, and Phillippe Aumont takes spot #15. That means we move on to #16. Freddy Galvis got multiple mentions, so I’ll add him, and also Miguel Alvarez.

Brody Colvin profile

Hey folks. I’d like to thank Dave (posts articles here as “Puko”) and Ryan (posts articles here as rgatta) for offering their help in producing a number of profiles. I had started to write these, but with other endeavors, I have not had time to follow up and produce more. Dave and Ryan will be writing up a bunch of profiles in the coming weeks/months. All of them will be located on the profiles page, which you can get to by clicking here and for future reference, clicking the “Profiles” link at the top of the site. Right now, we have profiles available for Sebastian Valle, Jarred Cosart, Domonic Brown and Trevor May. Dave has just completed the Brody Colvin profile, which you can now find linked on the main profiles page, or by clicking here. All of the tools grades will be my subjective evaluations, as well as the video analysis, everything else will be produced by Dave and Ryan.

I do not want to include the “click here for more” link in the profiles, so they won’t appear on the main page. I will post updates frequently after a number of profiles are complete, and remember to keep checking the profiles page for new additions. Thanks.

2011 Reader Top 30: Runoff for #14/15

Alrighty, the voting for #14 is extremely close, 4 votes out of 540 total, so we’re going to do a run-off. Choose between either Phillippe Aumont or Aaron Altherr for #14. The runner up is #15, and then we move on to #16.

Escalona Traded to Astros

Ed Wade continued stocking the Astros shelves with Phils retreads as the recently designated Sergio Escalona was traded to the Astros for 23 year old 2B Albert Cartwright.  Cartwright split time between High A and AA last season hitting a combined .294/.355/.472 in 547 AB’s with 10 HR and 55 RBI’s to go along with 31 SB’s.  On the substantial down side, Cartwright hit just .229/.289/.271 in his 140 AA AB’s and struck out in 26% of his AA at bats. He additionally committed 29 errors in 119 games at second base last season.

2011 Reader Top 30, #14

Domingo Santana dominated the competition (like he’ll hopefully dominate Lakewood in 2011) and took home the 13th spot. That means we move on to #14, which should be fairly wide open. JC Ramirez received the most write-in support, so he replaces Santana in the polling. Onward
