A huge thanks to Dave for all of the work he’s put in helping create these profiles. You can find newly minted writeups for Scott Mathieson, Perci Garner and Austin Hyatt by clicking the links, or by using the “Profiles” page at the top of the site. My plan is to keep these profiles updated going forward, and to expand them with additional content. Also, if you stumble across random articles about players, and they have pages created, you can leave the links in the comments of the profiles, and I’ll eventually add a section for each player for all news links and stuff like that. Enjoy.

  2. Who is Mayo? He is a blogger, just as any other blogger, who happens to be employed by Major League Baseball. He is not the official voice of Major League Baseball. Those lists he compiled are mostly stats based and have the same validity as any other list by an observer that is stats based. If a player appears on Mayo’s list it is because they put up the level of stats in comparison to other players through various levels who put up stats. Vis-a-vis Hyatt v. C. Hernandez, there are many , many more pitchers than 2B, and for a pitcher to make the top ten they would have to be a concensus slam dunk top of the line prospect, but given the small pool of 2B some noteworthy stats at a lower level will bob one to the top. A player who has not made LO-A yet is not a sure thing and the likelihood of rising to the top over a pitcher who is slightly ahead, and doing well despite the whereas’es and wherefor’s of “those in the know” is simply a matter of opinion. All on this list are question marks.
Nats V. Phillies- supposed to be line-up only, let’s see:
    Zimmerman bests Polanco- likely
Werth bests whatever mish-mash evolves in RF- I say likely also
Ian Desmond bests Rollins- I say Rollins continues to muddle a bit and be in and out of line-up and Desmond could be considered to have done better last season and Rollins declines a bit so it continues-likely
Maybe Ibanez goes back a little at 39 and Michael Morse with Augmentation from Bernhadina outperforms there- tending to likely
Victorino looks to be thrust into the lead-off role and is not as well suited for that as Nyjier Morgan and Morgan advances a bit here- tending to likely
That’s 5 of 8 spots , so that’s the majority, so my prediction is standing tall, and C , 1B , and 2B are reaching an age level where things can start to go sideways, so maybe a surprise there can replace something above which may not reveal itself. Prediction standing tall. We’ll see what develops.
