As Ducky pointed out in another post, BA released its Top 100 today, which is a consensus list of all the main writers at BA. The Phillies had 3 representatives
54: Carlos Carrasco
76: Adrian Cardenas
90: Joe Savery
Not bad, not bad. Boston and Tampa Bay, the two best systems in baseball, each had 7 guys listed. On the other end of the spectrum, the White Sox had zero. Milwaukee, Arizona, San Francisco and San Diego all had 2, while Houston, Toronto, the Mets and Detroit had only 1 guy each. I don’t necessarily agree with BA’s list, but its interesting to ponder.
I really like it. As a few more guys ‘graduate’ from the list and hopefully some of the Phillies guys improve on their status this farm system will regain some serious respect.

Considering the fact that none of those three will lose eligibility for the list next year, I’d expect to at least see Outman join them next year and maybe if Drabek has an excellent fall league he’ll get some respect and show up on this list.

I would not be surprised if the Phils have that list double to 5 or 6 prospects in the top 100 next year. They have some really good prospects in the system, but many of them are too far away to have a decent idea of how good they are to those on this list currently. I feel that this year will be a key year for the Phils and thier direction for the next few years.
If some of these guys step up this year, the team can revamp thier rotation and bullpen mainly thru thier own prospects rather than expensive free agents.
