The Phillies swept the Blue Jays, an organization that Phillies teams have had difficulty playing through all levels. Especially the Complex teams and Clearwater. Then they took 3 of 4 from Miami thanks to their amazing starting pitching.

The comment count is pretty high in the previous discussion, so I’ve opened this new one for the weekend series against the Athletics. The A’s are playing better than last season when they took 2 of 3 from the Phillies at CBP going into the All-Star break including an 18-3 stomping in game three.

The Phillies ended a 5-game losing streak with two wins over the Chicago Cubs this past weekend. Luzardo and Nola pitched very well in both victories. They are off today and start a 6-game homestand with 3-game series against Washington and Arizona. The Diamondbacks’ series is important because they could be a team with whom the Phillies will be contesting a wild card berth. The Phillies completed a home stand with a 4-3 record against the Giants and Marlins that frankly should have been better. They travel to New York to face the Mets in a three-game series that will complete a stretch of 16 games in 16 days in which they currently have a 6-7 record.
