Lehigh Valley Weekly Report

A 3-3 week for Lehigh Valley (note: the second game of the doubleheader Thursday is not included), leaving Lehigh Valley at 23-36, in last place of the Northern division, 11 games behind division leading Syracuse.

‘Pigs league leaders thru 6/9/10–Hitters: Cody Ransom is tied for 8th in runs (34) tied for 3rd in homers (12),3rd in k’s (71),and 7th in RBI’s (37); John Mayberry is tied for 8th in runs (34), and tied for 10th in homers (9); Andy Tracy is 2nd in walks (37) and ninth in OBP (.391); Rich Thompson is tied for 6th in sb’s (14). Pitchers: Nate Bump is tied for 3rd in wins (6) , tied for the league lead in starts (12), is leading the league in IP (73)and is 6th in ERA (2.71); Andrew Carpenter is tied for 9th in wins(9); Brian Mazone is tied for the league lead in starts (12); tied for 5th in HR allowed (9) and is 10th in the league in IP (69); Scott Mathieson is 5th in the league in saves (11); Ryan Vogelsong is 10th in the league in k’s with 57. ‘Pigs Weekend Update

A look at the Lehigh Valley weekend.  See below for recaps, notes and a transaction.

Friday–STarter Joe Savery was hit hard very early in a five run first inning  and that was all CHarlotte needed to beat the ‘Pigs 8-4. Savery threw six shutout innings after the tough first, leaving with a line of 7IP 9H 5ER 4BB 2K.  The ‘Pigs cut the lead to 5-1 in the 5th on a Rich Thompson RBI single, but a three run 8th off of reliever Ehren Wasserman put the game away for Charlotte.  Andy Tracy hit his 7th homer of the year, a two run shot, to make the game borderline respectable. Lehigh Valley Weekly Report

Yet another in a fairly long line of awful weeks for Lehigh Valley, going 2-5 on the week, and are now at 20-33, and in last place of the Northern Division of the IL, 11.5 games behind division leading Syracuse.

League Leaders thru 6/2: Hitters: John Mayberry is 5th in runs (34), 8th in homers (9), and 10th in RBI’s (34); Cody Ransom is tied for 3rd in homers (11) , 3rd in strikeouts (64)and 5th in RBI’s (36); Andy Tracy is tied for 3rd in walks (29) and 9th in OBP (.382); Rich Thompson is tied for 6th in steals (12).

‘Pigs Weekend Update

Just an awful weekend for Lehigh Valley who were swept by Columbus.  The ‘Pigs continue on the road for a four game series against Toledo.

Friday–Despite 2 homers and 6 RBI’s from Andy Tracy, Lehigh Valley lost again to Columbus, this time 11-7 on Friday evening. ‘Pigs starter Brandon Duckworth (1-1) was hit hard, lasting only three innings having given up 4 runs on five hits.  He walked three as well.  John Mayberry’s 8th homer of the year in the first inning gave Lehigh Valley the early lead against Carlos Carrasco, but the wheels then fell off, and fell off hard. A two run homer in the 6th by Tracy and a Grand Slam in the 7th made it close, but another implosion by reliever Ehren Wasserman put the game out of reach for the ‘Pigs. In addition to Tracy’s big day, John Mayberry had two hits, Cody Ransom was 3-5, and Brian Bocock added two hits as well. Continue reading ‘Pigs Weekend Update

Another week in the losing column for Lehigh Valley as they went 2-4 and are currently 18-28 on the year, 10 games behind division leading Scranton

League Leaders thru 5/26: Hitting: John Mayberry is 8th in runs (28) and tied for 10th in homers (7), DeWayne Wise is leading the league in triples (5) and is 9th in slugging (.515); Cody Ransom is tied for 3rd in homers (10), 3rd in strikeouts (58) and is 7th in RBI’s (31).

League Leaders, thru 5/19; Hitting: DeWayne Wise is leading the league in triples (5); Cody Ransom is tied for 3rd in homers, is 3rd in the league in strikeouts (49)and is 10th in RBIS (26);  John Mayberry is tied for 9th in homers (6); Rich Thompson is 3rd in the league in average (.337).  Pitching: Nate Bump is tied for 5th in Wins (4), tied for 4th in the league in starts (8), 3rd in IP (51), 5th in WHIP (1.12) and 4th in ERA (2.29); Scott Mathieson is 6th in the league in saves (6).  Ryan Vogelsong is 8th in the league in strikeouts(43). A very bad week for Lehigh Valley, who were 2-5 on the week, and now stand at 13-20, in 5th place in the Northern Division, 7.5 games behind division leading Syracuse.

League Leaders, thru 5/12: Hitters: DeWayne Wise is tied for 4th in the league in doubles (11),9th in slugging (.550) and leading the league in triples (4).  Cody Ransom is tied for 4th in homers (8) and 2nd in strikeouts (40), Andy Tracy is tied for 9th in Walks (18), Rich Thompson is 4th in batting average (.350).

League Leaders (thru Wednesday):Hitters: Mayberry is tied for 6th in runs (19), and tied for 4th in doubles (8); Wise is leading the league in triples (4); Ransom is tied for 3rd in homers (6), 8th in RBI’s (19) and 6th in strikeouts (28); Tracy is 7th in walks (16).

Lehigh Valley Weekly Report

The weekly report a day early, thanks to a couple of scheduling conflicts.  Since the last weekly report, Lehigh Valley has gone 2-3, and stand at 8-11, in 4th place of the Northern Division of the International League, 4.5 games behind division leading Syracuse.

League Leaders, Hitting: Mayberry, 2nd in runs (16), tied for 7th in doubles (6); Wise, leads the league in triples (4); Ransom, tied for 7th in RBI’s (15), Duffy, tied for 7th in RBI’s (15); Tracy, tied for 2nd in walks(15), 8th in strikeouts (21).

‘Pigs Weekend Update

A look at the Lehigh Valley weekend.  As usual, a full report on the ‘Pigs coming each Thursday.

Friday–Lehigh Valley opened their 4 game series in Scranton with an unusual game, where starter Andrew Carpenter (1-2)was on pitch count (presumably around 40) and was removed after two innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits in the Lehigh Valley 6-3 loss. AFter Scranton jumped ahead 3-0, Lehigh Valley got one back in the 3rd on a Rich Thompson RBi single, but Scranton added 2 in the sixth and one more in the seventh to put the game away.  The ‘Pigs scored two in the 8th to make in respectable they key hit being a Andy Tracy RBI single.  Reliever Brian Gordon threw four innings in relief, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. SS Brian Bocock’s rough start continued, committing two errors(3,4).
