Well, I’m back for a while.  I will be on schedule until a couple weeks in June.  Until then, business as usual.

This is your Phillies discussion. Continue reading Phillies Discussion 5/19/2025

Hopefully, the Phillies had a winning road trip.  They return home to face the Cardinals and Pirates. Continue reading Phillies Discussion 5/12/2025

The Phillies took 2 of 3 from the Nationals.  The game three loss was a little disappointing.  It was nice to see the Phillies power break out in the first game of the Diamondbacks’ series.  Nice catch by Rojas in the ninth inning. Continue reading Phillies Discussion 5/5/2025

The Phillies ended a 5-game losing streak with two wins over the Chicago Cubs this past weekend.  Luzardo and Nola pitched very well in both victories.  They are off today and start a 6-game homestand with 3-game series against Washington and Arizona.  The Diamondbacks’ series is important because they could be a team with whom the Phillies will be contesting a wild card berth.  The Phillies trail the Mets by four games and are 2.5 games ahead of last place Atlanta and Miami.   Continue reading Phillies Discussion 4/28/2025

The Phillies completed a home stand with a 4-3 record against the Giants and Marlins that frankly should have been better.  They travel to New York to face the Mets in a three-game series that will complete a stretch of 16 games in 16 days in which they currently have a 6-7 record.  Continue reading Phillies Discussion 4/21/2025

The Phillies returned from their road trip with a disappointing 2-4 record.  They had a chance to bury the Braves and blew it.  They had a chance to salvage the trip against the Cardinals and were shut out twice.

The Phillies’ difficulty with starting pitchers continues.  Through 15 games, opponents’ starters have compiled a line of 80.0 IP, 73 hits, 22 runs, 20 earned runs, 25 walks, 74 Ks, 3 HR, and a 2.25 ERA.  If you overlook their success against Glasnow and Sale, opposing starters have a 1.13 ERA against the Phillies.

The Phillies continued their good start to the season with their third series win and a 7-2 record.  They go into Atlanta to play a 1-8 Braves team.  While a sweep would be nice, another series win would be acceptable.  Continue reading Phillies Discussion 4/7/2025

Phillies Discussion 3/31/2025

The Phillies are off to a good start winning 2 of 3 from the Nationals and winning the home opener against the Rockies.  And the Braves are 0-5, yippee! Continue reading Phillies Discussion 3/31/2025

Spring training is completed.  The roster is set.  Still a few question marks left though.  How long can Walker fill in for Suarez?  Is Strahm really ready?  Is the bullpen better than, or even as good as last season?  Will Marsh hit enough against lefties to get most of the starts in CF?  Will the offense be as good with Schwarber, Turner, and Castellano finishing the spring below the Mendoza line?  Can the Phillies repeat a 95-win season? Continue reading Phillies Discussion 3/24/2025

Phillies Discussion 3/11/2025

Phillies Spring Training continues to plod to its conclusion.  The Phillies came into camp with very few roster questions.  Maybe one or two slots in the bullpen and maybe the same regarding the bench.  Injuries to Matt Strahm and Westin Wilson have likely guaranteed that the questions for both are now two.
