Nick Hernandez with another strong start, while Franco Perkins and Altherr continue their strong starts. Meanwhile, LGj with another 2 K but 2 more walks. Building up to something big…I predict he hits 9 HR today. Continue reading Box Score Recap – 4/19/2013

That’s some hittin’ for Lehigh Valley. Welcome back Kenny Giles – faced 5 men, struck out 3. And welcome back Larry Greene, Jr. – 3 K and 1 BB in 4 PA. At least he saw some pitches.

Darin Ruf goes deep for the first time in 2013, Cam Perkins so far hitting like a 2nd year college guy at A+ should hit if we’re to believe he can make it to the show, (though a couple walks would be nice), and a fine outing from Kevin Brady – 4H, 3BB, and 8K over 6IP. Yes, I looked at all of Anthony Hewitt’s stats today. .480 BABIP. Call me in 6 weeks.
On a brighter note, Clearwater batters taking care of business, and Jesse Biddle was good, (though 4BB is not good), Castro, Joseph and Rupp went deep, and JC Ramirez is being very unJC.

Josh Fields with 4 hits including a double and 2 HR. That’s one base better than a cycle. It should have a name. Maybe the “Doublehomercycle”. Nah, never fit on a marquee. Wait, I’ve got it. How about “The Big Wheel”? That’s it. Josh Fields hit for The Big Wheel Monday night.
Also OF/1B Brock Stassi struck out 2 in a mop-up inning for Clearwater. And so begins the “Brock Stassi Pitching Experiment”, close relative of the “Tim Kennelly Pitching Experiment”, and arch-nemesis of the “Joe Savery Hitting Experiment”.
General Discussion – Week of April 15
I hear Cincinnati is nice this time of year. No wait, that statement is never true. Any time of year. TAKE THAT CINCINNATI!
So let’s talk about baseball.
p.s. I have only been to Cincinnati once, and I had no problems with it.
Austin Wright to the DL
Media folks on Twitter are reporting that a Reading press release states Austin Wright is heading to the DL with elbow tendinitis. No impending doctor visits were announced in the release, so we’ll have to just wait and see on that front. Wright has given up 1 hit, 11 walks, 6 earned runs and struck out 5 in six innings this year. He was ranked as the Phillies #18 prospect this off-season by Baseball America after a fairly strong 2012 where he gave up 147 hits, 60 walks and 57 earned runs while striking out 133 in 147 and 2/3 innings.
Tom Cochran will replace Wright at Reading. Cochran was 9-5 with a 3.96 ERA at Lehigh Valley in 2012.

Nick Hernandez rocketing up towards the top 30, with a couple really nice starts so far this year. He’s like Justin Bieber except I will gladly tolerate his success.
I added the graphic file now, also. I thought it was there earlier, but I guess not.

Adam Morgan good. Watching that game, he really does have a nice, fluid delivery. Fun to watch and really, quite polished already. Easy to see why the club tought he was ready for AAA. The rest of Saturday’s starters…umm…well…yeah…see…umm…hmmm… Continue reading Box Score Recap – 4/13/2013

Nice line from Seth Rosin. San Francisco found something unappealing about him starting in their system. Not sure if it was the nice K rate, the reasonable BB rate, or the fact that he’s built like a small-to-medium-sized horse, but we’ll see if he can stick. Here’s a link to Anthony Burkhart’s game story, with some background on Seth Rosin from the Pottsville Republican-Herald. Which one’s Pottsville? Yuengling, or not Yuengling?
