The Phillies ended a 5-game losing streak with two wins over the Chicago Cubs this past weekend. Luzardo and Nola pitched very well in both victories. They are off today and start a 6-game homestand with 3-game series against Washington and Arizona. The Diamondbacks’ series is important because they could be a team with whom the Phillies will be contesting a wild card berth. The Phillies completed a home stand with a 4-3 record against the Giants and Marlins that frankly should have been better. They travel to New York to face the Mets in a three-game series that will complete a stretch of 16 games in 16 days in which they currently have a 6-7 record. Phillies Discussion 4/14/2025
The Phillies returned from their road trip with a disappointing 2-4 record. They had a chance to bury the Braves and blew it. They had a chance to salvage the trip against the Cardinals and were shut out twice.
The Phillies’ difficulty with starting pitchers continues. Through 15 games, opponents’ starters have compiled a line of 80.0 IP, 73 hits, 22 runs, 20 earned runs, 25 walks, 74 Ks, 3 HR, and a 2.25 ERA. If you overlook their success against Glasnow and Sale, opposing starters have a 1.13 ERA against the Phillies.
