Box Score Recap (9/7/24)

Lehigh Valley lost by one run.  Scott Kingery led the offense with 4 hits.  Reading lost in a rout, Miller and Crawford were not in the lineup.  Jersey Shore won.  Braydon Tucker and Charles King combined for a shutout.  Clearwater managed just 2 hits in a loss, but their pitchers combined to strike out 12 batters (and walk eight).


Lehigh Valley (29-30, 63-69, tied for sixth place, 5.0 games back with 14 games remaining) Lost to Buffalo, 5-4.  Robinson Pina pitched four innings.  He gave up 5 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out three and gave up a HR.  Alan Rangel pitched three scoreless innings allowing a hit and striking out two.  Tyler Gilbert pitched one scoreless inning allowing one hit.

The IronPigs scored 2 early runs, one on a double play in the first inning and one on a force out by Jim Haley in the third.  After falling behind 5-2, they scored single runs in the fifth on a sac fly by Haley and the seventh on an RBI single by Darick Hall.

Scott Kingery had 4 hits including 2 doubles and stole his 24th base.  Marcus Lee Sang, Darick Hall, and Carlos De La Cruz had 2 hits each.

Reading (25-37, 56-74, fifth place, eliminated from post season, 7 games remaining) Lost to Erie 11-1.  Eiberson Castellano pitched five innings and gave up 5 runs (only 3 were earned) on 4 hits.  He walked none and struck out four but hit 2 batters.  Konnor Ash lasted 0.2 innings and gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.  He left with the bases loaded.  Andrew Baker allowed 2 of 3 inherited runners to score and pitched one scoreless inning allowing one hit walking three.  Tristan Garnett pitched a scoreless inning allowing one hit and striking out three.  Daniel Harper pitched an inning and gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.

Reading pulled within a run with a run in the second inning on an RBI single by Andrick Nava.  But that was their only run of the game.

Ethan Wilson and Nava had 2 hits each.

Jersey Shore (36-29, 74-57, second place, eliminated from post season when Hudson Valley won, 1 game remaining) beat Aberdeen, 4-0.  Braydon Tucker pitched seven shutout innings.  He allowed 6 hits and a walk while striking out eight.  He threw 71 strikes on 98 pitches (72.4%).  Charles King pitched two scoreless innings, faced the minimum, and struck out four.

The BlueClaws scored all 4 of their runs in the first inning on a 2-run double by Bryson Ware, a sac fly by Jordan Viars, and an RBI ground out by Felix Reyes.

Bryan Rincon, Hendry Mendez, Ware, and Reyes had 2 hits each.

Clearwater (20-39, 63-62, last place but 1st half winners, 1 game remaining before playoffs) lost to St. Lucie, 6-0.  Lachlan Wells pitched two scoreless rehab innings allowing 2 hits and a walk.  He struck out two.  AJ Wilson pitched two innings and gave up one run on one hit and 2 walks.  He struck out three.  Eli Trop pitched two scoreless innings allowing a hit and striking out three.  Josbel Garcia pitched two innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out three.  Titan Hayes pitched one inning allowing 2 runs on 3 walks while striking out one.

The Threshers collected just 2 hits including a triple by Carson DeMartini.

  2. I guess Johnson isn’t the answer. Was rooting for him. Hopefully he just needs more time to develop with coming off tj and also just being converted

  3. Yeah I’d have liked to see Kingery take a hot bat to see what he could do but the org made the right choice with Clemens over Hall or Kingery.
