Box Score Recap (8/15/24)

Lehigh Valley won; Kyle Tyler pitched well in his organizational debut.  Reading lost.  Jersey Shore won; Aidan Miller homered.  Clearwater lost with Caba, Tait, Nori, and Spikerman on the bench and Burkholder on the IL.  DSL Red swept, and DSL White won.


Lehigh Valley (22-18, 56-57) beat Worcester, 4-1 in seven innings.  Recently acquired Kyle Tyler pitched five innings and gave up one run on 2 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out seven.  Nick Nelson pitched a scoreless inning allowing a hit and walking a batter.

The IronPigs scored 3 runs in the third inning on RBI doubles by David Dahl and Buddy Kennedy and an RBI single by Darick Hall.  They scored a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Jim Haley.

Reading (17-25, 48-62) lost to New Hampshire, 6-4.  Christian McGowan pitched three innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks.  He walked 2 and gave up a HR.  Carlos Francisco allowed one of 2 inherited runners to score and pitched 1.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out one.  Nelson Alvarez stranded 2 inherited runners and pitched 1.1 scoreless innings striking out two.  Tommy McCollum pitched two innings and was charged with an unearned run on 2 hits and a strike out.  Cristian Hernandez pitched a scoreless inning striking out one.

Reading fell behind 6-0 and scored the last 4 runs of the game.  They scored once in the seventh inning on a solo HR (5) by Ethan Wilson.  They scored three times in the eighth on an RBI single by Otto Kemp and a 2-run single by Trevor Schweke.

Jersey Shore (21-24, 59-52) beat Winston-Salem, 3-2.  Jordan Fowler pitched 4.1 shutout innings.  He allowed 2 hits, one walk, and struck out five.  Gunner Mayer stranded an inherited runner and pitched 1.2 scoreless innings.  Paxton Thompson pitched two innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits.  He struck out four and gave up a HR.  Trey Dillard pitched a scoreless inning walking 2 and striking out two.

The BlueClaws took the lead with 2 runs in the third inning on a 2-run HR (3) by Aidan Miller.  The scored the go ahead and winning run in the seventh on an RBI single by Bryson Ware.

The Threshers took the lead with a run in the first inning on a sac fly by TJayy Walton.  They added a run in the second on an RBI single by Avery Owusu-Asiedu.  They scored a run in the ninth on a throwing error.

  1. Wonder if the Phillies have already shut down Mavis Graves for this season, would seem to be a little too early, ……I thought they would let him get to at least 100 innings, he stands at 80 right now.

    1. He pitched on 8/2 and 8/10, so he would pitch again in the next few days. I agree they will get him to 100.
