Lehigh Valley lost.  Reading won and Noah Skirrow gave them five strong innings, but the bullpen blew the save.  Gabriel Rincones homered.  Jersey Shore lost.  Clearwater won with a lineup stacked with this year’s draft picks.  Griffin Burkholder tripled and scored their first run, Dante Nori had a 2-run single, and Devin Saltiban hit his 14th HR.  Twelve of MLB’s Top Thirty prospects are on the Threshers, 6 of the top twelve.  The DSL Red won; DSL White lost.

Lehigh Valley (21-17, 55-56) lost to Worcester, 4-3.  Kolby Allard pitched five innings and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk.  He struck out 7 and gave up a HR.  Michael Mercado pitched one inning and gave up a run on a solo HR and walked a batter.  Zach Haake pitched one innings and gave up a run on 2 hits striking out one.  Tyler McKay pitched 0.2 innings, walked one, and struck out one.  Tyler Gilbert retired one batter and stranded an inherited runner.

The IronPigs took an early and brief lead with a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Kody Clemens.  They score 2 runs in the eighth on a 2-run single by Scott Kingery.

Reading (15-24, 46-61) beat New Hampshire, 7-5.  Noah Skirrow pitched five innings and gave up one unearned run on 2 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out two.  Nelson Alvarez pitched a scoreless inning striking out one.  Wesley Moore pitched one inning and gave up a run on a solo HR striking out one.  Andrew Walling blew the save giving up 3 runs (2 ER) in 0.1 innings on 4 hits.  Daniel Harper stranded 2 inherited runners and got the win with 1.2 scoreless innings walking one and striking out three.

Reading took the lead with a run in the first inning on a fielding error.  They took the lead again with 3 runs in the second on an RBI single by Erick Brito and a 2-run double by Justin Crawford.  They added a run in the fifth on a solo HR (9) by Gabriel Rincones.  After New Hampshire tied the game in the eighth, they took the lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Otto Kemp and Robert Moore.

Jersey Shore (20-23, 58-51) lost to Winston-Salem, 4-3.  Casey Steward pitched 5.2 innings and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out 5 and gave up a HR.  Danny Wilkinson allowed 2 of 3 inherited runners to score on a hit and a walk in 0.1 innings.  Trey Dillard pitched one scoreless inning walking one and striking out two.  Alex Garbrick pitched a scoreless inning allowing 2 hits.  Ethan Chenault pitched a scoreless inning.

The BlueClaws scored a run in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Keaton Anthony and a run in the seventh on a double by Pierce Bennett.

Clearwater (12-29, 55-52) beat Tampa, 7-2.  Juan Amarante pitched six innings and gave up one run on 2 hits and 4 walks.  He struck out eight.  Orlando Gonzalez pitched 0.1 innings giving up a run on 2 walks and 2 hit batters.  Brandon Beckel stranded 3 inherited runners and pitched 1.2 scoreless innings striking out two.  Luis Avila pitch one scoreless inning.

The Threshers scored a run in the second inning on a balk after Griffin Burkholder tripled.  They scored 6 runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Starlyn Caba, a 2-run single by Dante Nori, and a 3-run HR (14) by Devin Saltiban.

Burkholder left the game after making the third out on a ground ball to the third baseman.  He appeared to hit the base awkwardly but left the field under his own power.

  1. Rincones and Saltibon continue to show good power. Rincones likely to get a spring training invite after a likely AFL showing and could be in the mix for a 2025 debut.
    Love seeing the top two draft kids with good first games.

    1. Seth Johnson will be 26 next month and he’s pitched 75 innings at AA, he needed to move up. And he’s a former 1st round pick.

      Chace is going to get tested at AA. His SO rate is great but his walk rate is dicey. Something is going to have to give.

  3. Got to watch Allard on NESN+ last night. He looked pretty good with decent velocity and command. If/When Walker faulters, I believe he’ll get another shot.

  4. Victor Cardoza:….Perhaps next bat coming out of the DSL stateside next season… OFer Victor Cardoza. Good compact size with power. So far slashing .336/.387/.580 with 7 HRs in 143 ABs. He is a free swinger and sports a 25% K rate. Look forward to see how the scouts will evaluate him.
