  1. Tait seems to show up every day. I’m not worried about Caba yet. Not at 18 y/o in Hi-A. He seems to have the make-up to push through these struggles at the plate. As long as the defense is showing as plus I’d be willing to wait and see what he is doing offensively in a couple of years.

    1. Agree, you also have to consider, this is the longest season of his life. Part of learning to be a pro is growing stronger each year. He’s still closer to being a kid than a man, give him time. I don’t really think anything of his struggles, let’s see what he does over the winter and how he matures, that will be the key for him.

      1. True, but his premise is still accurate. The average age of pitchers in the Florida State League per Baseball Reference is 22. The average age of batters is 21.

The average age of pitchers in the Florida Complex League is 20.7. The average age of batters is 19.3.

Caba is 18 years and 247 days old today. This is his second year in professional sports. He is giving up years and games played to his American counterparts.

Caba played in 38 games in the DSL at age 17 in 2023 against age appropriate pitchers, 18.6. The average age of batters was 17.8.

Caba played 52 games in the FCL and 10 games so far with the Threshers. If MLB hadn’t changed the start/finish of the FCL Caba would still be playing against younger pitchers. I think facing older, more experienced pitchers has more to do with his recent struggles than the number of games he’s started.

    1. rocco…..simply put yes he can go…..player eligibility has changed over time; as of 2008, each MLB organization could only provide one player below the AA level and before 2019 there were service-time limits for any players on the 40-man but as of 2021 all players within an MLB organization are eligible. I think MLB wants teams to send their top prospects to generate a lot of fan interest, and keep MLB baseball in the media and audience eye thru Thanksgiving.

      1. The move of Harper from RF to 1B began a chain of events that in many ways eliminated the need of both Hoskins and Hall. I think that there were other catalysts as well such as contracts, money and being a regular that contributed.

If we need to replace Harper, I suppose it’s Bohm, JT? No MILB player who is 1B only in the pipeline that screams attention, nor should there be ……… they are a dime a dozen IMO.

        1. think of the defensive range with Harper or schwarber in the outfield and Hoskins at first vs marsh in the outfield and Harper at first.
