  1. Let’s hope the new recruits can help CWater gain some stability, they’ve been in free fall. Great to see Caba with 2 hits after all his struggles. Let’s see if he can string together a few good games.
Kingery has really put together a nice season, he should have no trouble at least getting into some teams’ major league spring training next spring to give himself a chance.

  2. Starting to lean towards Miller isn’t who I thought he might be. I saw him about a month back and wasn’t impressed but thought OK he’s only been up to JS for a week or so he’ll right himself. But shades of MM are starting to creep in for me.

This amateur scouting department might need to start thinking about their approach or finding a new blind squirrel. They took some shots on guys like Boyd, Walton, Saltiban, Hettiger etc with lackluster results.

Its a tough game and an even tougher job to predict or project youngsters to a successful MLB career.

I’m not making haste here just pondering on what some of the data is saying.

    1. Starting to share your concern about Aidan Miller. Not sure what’s going on, but this is troubling. He’s not even treading water at the plate. We don’t know why. Maybe he’s trying something new at the plate. Maybe he’s struggling hitting breaking balls. Maybe his swing is just all out of whack. But it’s disturbing. Grade A prospects don’t usually struggle in high A ball to this extent for any extended period of time. Just saying.

  3. I get whiplash reading some of the comments around here. A week ago, Miller was completely untouchable, probably their best prospect, and there would have been a crap storm if he has been traded.

Now suddenly, because he’s off to a bad start after his promotion it’s time to start wondering if maybe he’s really just a failed prospect and the entire organization needs to start rethinking their approach?

He’s had 150 at-bats at Jersey Shore and his babip in 100 points lower than it was at Clearwater. Maybe he’s had some bad luck? The walk rate and K-rates are basically the same between the 2 levels so no sign that he’s struggling with making contact.

    Patience is a virtue.

    1. 3k…actually, after 150 PAs, his k-rate of 24% in this adjustment period for him at JS is not all that bad. This off-season they will work with him and see how he does at JS to start next season.

      1. Agree Romus, I think his k-rate is just fine, especially when his walk rate is also high. He doesn’t appear to be struggling with pitch recognition or making contact, just not getting base hits.

    2. amen 3up! The couch GM/couch scout from some in our fan base is truly unbearable. They’ll turn on players so quick because they think they know more as they sip martinis on their couch!

  4. Put this on the wrong thread. Jersy Shore was on the YES network last night. Got to watch Miller bat. He flinched at a really mediocre curve ball and then chased a low outside fastball to strike out. He looked a bit overmatched. He’ll probably start at JS next season and will improve. Keeping my fingers crossed.
