Lehigh Valley’s game was suspended in the fourth inning.  and Mick Abel lost.  Reading lost in a walk off.  Jersey Shore and Clearwater lost.  DSL Red won.  DSL White didn’t play.

Lehigh Valley (17-11, 51-50) vs. Jacksonville, suspended in the fourth leading 7-2.

Reading (12-17, 43-54) lost to Hartford, 7-4.  TaiJuan Walker made a rehab start and pitched 2.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs (2 ER) on 4 hits, a hit batter, and a walk.  He struck out three.  Tommy McCollum stranded an inherited runner and struck out the only batter he faced.  Dylan McCovey made a rehab appearance pitching two innings.  He gave up an unearned run on 3 hits.  Christian McGowan pitched 3.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and a walk.  He struck out 4 but gave up 2 HR.  Daniel Harper stranded an inherited runner and retired the two batters he faced.

Reading took a lead with 3 runs in the second inning on a 2-run triple by Trevor Schweke and a sac fly by Erick Brito.  They retook the lead for a couple innings with a run in the third on an RBI single by Josh Breaux.

Jersey Shore (16-16, 54-44) lost to Hudson Valley, 6-5.  Luke Russo five innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out four.  Pan Wen-hui pitched two scoreless innings allowing a hit and a walk.  Charles King pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 4 runs (3 ER) on 4 hits and a walk.  He struck out 2 but took the loss on a walk off.

The BlueClaws scored 2 runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Troy Schreffler and an RBI single by Keaton Anthony.  They broke a tie when they scored 3 runs in the sixth on a 3-run HR (6) by Hendry Mendez.

They lost in the ninth inning on a single and fielding error with the bases-loaded that allowed 3 runs to score.

Clearwater (8-24, 51-47) lost to Jupiter, 7-3 in a rain-shortened six innings.  Juan Amarante pitched five innings giving up 4 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out six.  Josh Bortka pitched a scoreless inning striking out one.  Jonathan Petit pitched one inning giving up 3 runs on 6 walks.  Drew Garrett allowed one of 2 inherited runners to score and pitched one scoreless inning walking 5 and striking out one.  Jose Pena stranded 3 inherited runners and pitched a scoreless inning striking out two.

The Threshers scored a run in the fifth inning on a solo HR (3) by Diego Gonzalez.  They scored 2 runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Eduardo Tait and a ground out by Kehden Hettiger.

  3. How is Crawford’s CF defense? I’m assuming below Rojas… but wondering how close? Better than Marsh? Better than Pache? I’m hoping between Pache & Rojas as the general consensu

    1. plus defender with elite speed, average arm, so probably a small notch below Rojas but his offensive upside is way above Rojas. I do not think Rojas will be blocking Crawford although it would be quite the fielding duo to pair those two out there if Rojas could find some offense

    2. Having seen Crawford live I will say his speed allows him to cover tons of ground. He will need to get better at some of his reads though.

      I see him as a plus defender and more than capable of being a long term CF.

  4. Now that he’s in Clearwater are there any reports on Tait’s defense at C? Only negatives I’ve read about the guy were some questions about his defense but it’s difficult to know how valid those are for a 17-year-old.
