Box Score Recap (7/26/24)

Lehigh Valley lost.  Reading lost.  Jersey Shore won.  Clearwater lost.  The Threshers stole 8 bases in 8 attempts.  Starling Caba has 6 stolen bases in 6 attempts in 2 games.   The DSL Phillies Red won.  The DSL Phillies White won in eleven innings.  The FCL Phillies season is over.


Lehigh Valley (16-9, 50-48) lost to Rochester, 10-6.  Nick Nelson pitched three innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits.  He struck out four.  Max Castillo pitched three innings giving up one run on 2 hits and 3 walks.  He struck out three.  Max Lazar pitched one inning and gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and a walk.  He struck out one.  Ricardo Pinto pitche one inning and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and one walk.  He struck out two.

The IronPigs scored 2 runs in the first inning on a double play and an RBI single by Kody Clemens.  They score once in the second on a sac fly by Buddy Kennedy.  They pulled within one with a run in the sixth on a fielding error.  They scored 2 runs in the ninth on a 2-run HR (11) by Darick Hall.

Reading (10-15, 41-52) lost to New Hampshire, 7-3.  Samuel Aldegheri pitched five innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out six.  Andrew Walling pitched two scoreless innings striking out four.  Andrew Baker pitched 0.1 innings allowing 3 runs on one hit and 2 walks.  Daniel Harper allowed 3 inherited runners to score and pitched 0.2 innings allowing one run on 2 hits striking out one.

Reading took a brief lead with 2 runs in the second inning on a solo HR (4) by Josh Breaux and a solo HR (4) by Trevor Schweke.  They scored a run in the ninth on a ground out by Leandro Pineda.

Jersey Shore (16-12, 54-40) beat Aberdeen, 6-5.  Mitch Neunborn pitched 6.1 innings and gave up 3 runs (2 ER) on 3 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out eight.  Mason Ronan allowed an inherited runner and pitched 0.2 innings giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  Jaydenn Estanista pitched two innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk.  He struck out three.

The BlueClaws scored a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Felix Reyes.  They scored 2 runs in the second on RBI doubles by Jordan Dissin and Wiliam Bergolla.  They extended their lead to 2 runs with a run in the fourth on a force out by Hendry Mendez.  They maintained their lead with another force out in the seventh by Zach Arnold.  They added an important insurance run in the eighth on an RBI double by Mendez.

The Threshers took the lead with 2 runs in the fourth inning on a double steal (Devin Saltiban home, TJayy Walton second), and a throwing error when Walton stole third.  They tied the game with 3 runs in the sixth on a 3-run HR (8) by Raylin Heredia.  They tied the game for the last time with a run in the eighth on a wild pitch.

  1. Any opinions on Pina? Seems he had a good effort today. ERA might be a little high, but that can be expected in the minors. W/L is good, 7 Ks today, seems like he throws a lot of strikes. Opinions?

    1. He looks like another reclamation project and the Phillies are trying to see if he could be a depth starter. His SO and walk rate are nice, his HR and hit/9 are not. But I think he’s done enough that he’ll likely be at Lehigh next season.
