Now that the FCL league has concluded for the Phillies, what’s next for those Phillies players?

Reportedly, Bridge League starts up for some of the FCL guys and draftees….runs thru August and early September.

Is there a website for this bridge league?

I will post results and stats for the Bridge League. It’s akin to extended spring training so there is no formal site or box scores made public.

Thanks Steve. Again will it only be the clubs clustered within a certain radius of CLW…..Jays, Tigers and Yankees?

The FCL regular season concluded on 7/25/24, in years past the league played into August and was a forum for newly signed draft picks to make their pro debuts. In order to provide a continuing training platform this season for those players selected to participate the five Tampa area clubs (Phillies, Pirates, Blue Jays, Yankees and Tigers) have formed what they are calling a “Florida Bridge League” and will play training games between 7/29/24 and 9/6/24. The training league is not part of the FCL or it’s season. It will operate independently and similarly to the Spring Training/Extended Spring Training exhibition seasons. To me it’s akin to the old Fall Instructs platform when teams used to play one another but is a month earlier than Instructs would occur.
The Phillies will play the following schedule – dates subject to change, game times are noon unless otherwise noted :
7/29 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Yankees
7/30 – @ Lakeland vs Tigers
8/2 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Pirates
8/6 – @ Lakeland vs Tigers
8/8 – @ Bradenton vs Pirates – 6:30 PM
8/9 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Tigers
8/13 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Pirates
8/16 – @ Dunedin vs Blue Jays
8/20 – @ Lakeland vs Tigers
8/22 – @ Bradenton vs Pirates
8/23 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Tigers
8/27 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Pirates
8/30 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Blue Jays
9/3 – @ Bradenton vs Pirates
9/5 – @ Bradenton vs Pirates
9/6 – @ Carpenter Complex vs Tigers

People talk about Tait and his age…
Bergolla at 19 at Jersey shore batting a tick under .300…. just keeps hitting… will his lack of power be a detriment???
LikeLike
Lack of power? At the position he currently is at…second base…do not seeing it being a problem. If he plays a plus defense, with plus BA and OBP, and runs the bases well…no issue. Eventually some power will come….if it can come for Marchan of late, it can come for anyone.

There’s absolutely no rush with Bergolla since he’s blocked at the ML level. Let him develop at his pace and whatever happens, happens. He’s a likely candidate to get traded similar to Hao Yu Lee.
LikeLike
Speaking of Lee he is 21 in AA slashing 292/362/823 OPS and 12 HRs to boot.
Another bad value trade this FO made.
LikeLike
dmar, terrible trade when it was made and terrible trade now. If Lee was doing this at Reading as a 21 year old people would be having wet dreams about him. He would be considered the #1 pure hitting prospect in the Phillies farm system.

You make it sound like the only prospects that the Phillies should trade are soon to be busts, which is absurd. You win some and you lose some, that’s the nature of the deal. If you don’t want to see good prospects go elsewhere, then don’t make any deals at all.
LikeLike
19 and 20(Lee last year) year olds are not blocked by anybody. 24 year olds, then come talk about being blocked. They are 7 and 8 years younger than Stott and Bohm. Last year Stott looked good. This year he can’t hit the ocean if he fell out of a boat. Things change very quickly in baseball so to say any 19 or 20 year old is “blocked” is silly.

Of course, anything can happen. But if you’re going to have to trade a prospect, you might as well trade a prospect that’s blocked at the ML level. Trea Turner is not going anywhere and Stott was looking like a stud.

Bergolla reminds me of another Cesar Hernandez. Not great but certainly capable on a MLB team with a bunch of other above average players around him.

So Tampa trade Arozarena for a kid I know Brody Hopkins. He want to school at Winthrop where my good friend’s son went. I went down a few times last season to see him play and got to know a few those guys.
Another Wintrop player went in the 13th rnd Riley Huge to the A’s. Big hard throwing lefty with a great K/Rate.

Phillies with 3 in Keith Law updated top 60
Aidan Miller – 20 – looks like a different guy on both sides of the ball this year; thinks he can stick at SS
Andrew Painter – 34 – says he may do some simulated games before the year is out; if curve ball comes back, #1 starter upside
Justin Crawford – 35 – elite runner and fielder with great bat speed and contact quality; still hits it on the ground too often; looks like he could gain 15-20 more lbs, but still much stronger than in HS; 20 HR/50 steal upside

If Miller and Caba both stay in the org for the next 3 years….Miller will be at third base.

Matt W in his mid season rankings believes what I was trying to talk about yesterday
“Trade Deadline Thoughts: Teams are going to ask about Tait, but I expect the Phillies to try and steer towards other players and to be shopping in a slightly lower tier. If there is a big deal, he could be involved, but he has much less universal value than Caba does.”
btw I love reading Matt’s thoughts on Twitter
