Box Score Recap (7/20/24)

Lehigh won in a walk off.  Reading won with 4 HR.  Jersey Shore won.  Clearwater lost.  The FCL Phillies took two and stayed alive for the playoffs.  DSL Phillies Red and White had the day off.


FCL Phillies (31-24) swept the Blue Jays, 1-0 and 2-1.

Game OneMaxwell Hernandez pitched the one inning before the game was suspended striking out one.  Pedro Reyes (3-1, 2.89) came on today and tossed six shutout innings.  He gave up 4 hits and a walk and struck out six.  The Phillies out hit the Jays 5 to 4 and scored their only run in the fifth on an RBI single by Manolfi Jimenez.

Game TwoOrlando Gonzalez pitched 4.2 innings and gave up a run on 2 hits and 5walks.  He struck out four.  Eliecer Bata stranded 3 inherited runners and tossed 1.1 scoreless innings walking one.  Rehabbing Alex Garbrick earned the save with one scoreless inning walking one.

The Phillies scored 2 runs in the fourth inning on a wild pitch and a sac fly by Junior Marin.  They out hit the Jays again, this time 4-2.

Lehigh Valley (13-7, 47-46) beat Worcester, walking off 4-3.  Nick Nelson pitched four innings and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and a HR.  He struck out two.  Griff McGarry pitched a scoreless inning allowing a hit and walk.  Max Lazar pitched two scoreless innings gave up 3 hits and a walk.  He struck out four.  Rehabbing Michael Rucker pitched a scoreless inning allowing a hit and striking out two.  Tyler Gilbert got the win pitching a scoreless inning striking out two.

The IronPigs scored a run in the first inning on a solo HR (6) by Kody Clemens.  They tied the game with a run in the third on a solo HR (10) by Darick Hall.  They tied the game again with a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Cody Roberts.  They walked off with a run in the ninth on a bases-loaded walk by Cal Stevenson.

Darick Hall’s HR gave him the career record for the IronPigs (70).

Reading scored 5 runs in the first inning on a solo HR (5) by Gabriel Rincones (his first AB since coming off the IL), a 3-run HR (8) by Otto Kemp, and a solo HR (1) by Leandro Pineda.  They broke a tie in the fifth inning on a solo HR (12) by Carson Taylor.

The BlueClaws scored 3 runs in the first inning on a fielding error, RBI double by Hendry Mendez, and RBI single by Keaton Anthony.  They scored a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Jordan Viars.  They added 2 insurance runs in the eighth on a 2-run triple by Aidan Miller.  They tacked on a run in the ninth on a sac fly by Troy Schreffler.

  1. Any word on Aroon Escobar’s injury? I was enjoying seeing him in the box score. I didn’t realize his injury was so severe. Hope he gets back before the end of the season.

  2. I know somebody has been asking for this, but 23 year old Eiberson Castellano has been promoted and will be starting for Reading today.
