Our teams won 7 of 8 games on Saturday. Lehigh won behind some solid pitching. Reading, too, in a 1-0, 3-hit shutout. Jersey romped to a big win. Clearwater tossed a 3-hitter. The FCL Phillies split winning a 3-hitter. Both DSL teams won.
Justin Crawford and Aidan Miller started for the National League in the Futures Game on Saturday. (Really smart of MLB to play this game up against the Phillies game.) Crawford played left field and made a spectacular diving catch to end the first inning with 2 runners on base. He went 1-3 from the leadoff spot. Miller started at shortstop and started the game’s only double play. He went 0-1 with an RBI on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
FCL Phillies (28-22) split with the Yankees, losing 3-2 and winning 2-1.
Game One: Pedro Reyes pitched five innings and gave up one run on 4 hits striking out five and allowing a solo HR. Josbel Garcia pitched one inning and gave up 2 runs (1 ER) on 2 hits and a walk. He blew the save and took the loss.
The Phillies scored 2 runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Starlyn Caba and an RBI double by Gabriel Rincones. Caba went 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Eduardo Tait went 0-3. Alirio Ferrebus went 0-3.

Game Two: Orlando Gonzalez pitched six innings and gave up one run on 3 hits, 2 walks, and a hit batter. He struck out 3 and gave up a solo HR. Claudio Gatier pitched a scoreless inning walking one for his first save.
The Phillies were under perfect game alert for six innings before starting the seventh with 3 consecutive hits. They scored 2 runs in the seventh inning on a leadoff single by Starlyn Caba and a double by Juan Villavicencio. Eduardo Tait ended the shutout with an RBI single. Guillermo Rosario provided the go ahead run with a sac fly.

The IronPigs tied the game with a run in the first inning on a sac fly by Carlos De La Cruz. They broke the tie with 3 runs in the fourth on a 2-run HR (6) by Cal Stevenson and a 2-run double by Jim Haley. They added 2 insurance runs in the sixth on another 2-run double by Haley. They tacked on a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Stevenson.

Starting to believe in the little kid from Hilo Hawaii…Devin Saltiban. Over the last approx. 20 games now he is plating a slash of .297/.471/.594…with an OPS of 1.064. He has shown plus pop and can steal bases. It looks like 2B will be his position going forward, but a 2B guy with power is what teams desire.
