Box Score Recap (7/12/24)

Lehigh Valley won and slipped over .500 for the first time since they were 7-6 on April 16th.  Reading lost their fourth in a row.  They are 2-8 this month.  Jersey Shore lost stopping a four-game win streak.  Clearwater lost again.  They are also 2-8 for the month.  The FCL Phillies won with a couple rehabbers chipping in.  Both DSL Phillies teams lost.

Samuel Aldegheri made his debut with Reading.  Weston Wilson was recalled replacing Whit Merrifield who was released.  And, Justin Crawford was promoted to Reading.


FCL Phillies (27-21) beat the Blue Jays, 5-3.  Christian McGowan pitched two scoreless innings in a rehab start.  He walked one and struck out two.  Alex Garbrick pitched a scoreless inning in a rehab appearance.  He struck out two.  Maxwell Hernandez (2-3, 5.66) pitched four innings and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits, 3 walks, a balk, and a hit batter.  He struck out two.  Adilson Peralta (3.33) earned his third save pitching two, one-run innings on 2 hits, 2 walks, and a hit batter.  He struck out two.

The Phillies scored a run in the second inning on an RBI ground out by Jerffson Pena.  The scored twice in the third on a sac fly by Gabriel Rincones and an RBI single by Eduardo Tait.  After the Jays closed within one run, they scored 2 runs in the seventh on a passed ball and an RBI double by Starlyn Caba.

Gabriel Rincones went 0-4 with an RBI and a sac fly.

Lehigh Valley (11-5, 45-44) beat Buffalo, 4-2.  David Parkinson (2-4, 5.52) pitched six innings allowing one run on 6 hits and 4 walks. He struck out four.  Zach Haake (0.00) pitched two scoreless innings walking one and striking out four.  Tyler Gilbert (5.68) pitched one inning and gave up one run on 2 hits.  He struck out one, gave up a HR, and picked up his fifth save.  

The IronPigs scored a run in the first inning on a solo HR (9) by Buddy Kennedy.  They broke a tie with 2 runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Kody Clemens and a bases-loaded walk by Darick Hall.  They tacked on an insurance run in the eighth on a sac fly by Clemens.

Reading (4-12, 35-49) lost to Akron, 8-3.  Samuel Aldegheri (0-1, 1.80) made his Double-A debut and pitched five innings.  He allowed 4 runs (only one ER) on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 wild pitches.  Konnor Ash (2.92) pitched two scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and striking out one.  Andrew Baker (8.78) pitched one inning and gave up one run on one hit and 2 walks.  He struck out one.  Tommy McCollum (5.93) pitched one inning and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 wild pitches.  He struck out three.  Matt Russell (4.45) pitched one scoreless inning allowing one hit and striking out two.

Reading scored 2 runs in the seventh inning on a 2-run HR (9) by Kendall Simmons and one run in the eighth on a sac fly by Josh Breaux.

Jersey Shore (9-10, 47-38) lost to Hudson Valley, 6-1.  Estibenzon Jimenez (2-8, 6.79) pitched 3.2 innings and gave up 5 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks, and a hit batter.  He struck out two.  Benony Robles (5.59) stranded 2 inherited runners and pitched 2.1 innings giving up one run on one hit and 2 walks.  He struck out two.  Trey Dillard (4.13) pitched two scoreless innings striking out three.  Mason Ronan (8.55) pitched one scoreless inning walking one and striking out one.

The BlueClaws scored their one run in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Jordan Dissin.  Their offense was undoubtedly hampered by the absences of Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford who are participating in the Futures Game this All-Star weekend.

The Threshers managed 4 singles and a walk while striking out 15 times.
