    1. Doubt it will be this year….because of his youth he is starter that carries more value. What they may do is shut him down for awhile and clear his head if he has lost any confidence.

    2. You wonder if they are considering a lot of stuff. Maybe they need to scrap everything they are doing with him and start over again and even total remake his delivery, they way the Blue Jays did with Roy Halladay.

By the way, congrats to Christopher Sanchez. I’ve been on this site since it started around 2006. There has been nobody more surprising during that time than Christopher Sanchez. Yes, he sometimes threw hard, but given his age, control problems and varying stuff, NOTHING prepared us for how he developed or what he is becoming. A mediocre and inconsistent and oldish AAA prospect with some untapped upside, just remakes himself as a major league. That contract is good for him and great for the team. He’s under team control (if they want him) through his age 34 season – at a very good price.

  1. Klassen joins Painter, Miller, Tait and Crawford as untouchable. Like Tait, if a rival GM mentions the name Klassen I hang up the phone. If this guy is going to become a quality major league starter he will do it for the Phillies and nobody else. I’ll take my chances with him. If he fails he fails.

    1. Klassen is a super prospect. You definitely don’t want to trade him if it’s not necessary. But I think our only truly untouchable prospect is still Painter – Miller might be close and Caba and Tait a little less so because they are so far from the majors. Everyone is touchable in the right deal. And Crawford is definitely not untouchable.

      1. Exactly – Painter is the only untouchable prospect right now and Miller could be by next year. Frankly, I’d be as concerned with trading Aldegheri, who I think is going to be a really good big league pitcher, as almost anyone else.

      2. True, Romus, but I have always been of the opinion that a great Phillies prospect will make it with the Phillies or he won’t make it at all. Im not giving another organization a chance.

        1. NL…can understand that. Even with GMs, like everyone else, that risk/reward threshold differs. Dave Dombrowski use to be higher risk taker with some of his past trades…the last two years with Phillies it seem to mellow out. But, he may be very aggressive over the next 5 weeks…….the team is on the cusp for a ring….and his legacy of three rings with three different clubs would put him up there in rare air baseball legacy.

    1. That sounds about right. But why do we want Kopech? He’s a been right-handed version of Gregory Soto this year.
