  1. Klassen, Kemp, and Miller all bumped up a level. Now Jersey Shore has got 3 shortstops. Does Casey Martin stick in the organization for long? He’s finally close to being pushed.

    1. Casey Martin’s career minor league OPS is .586. The Phillies took a chance on him in the 3rd round and it didn’t pan out. Casey Martin should be looking into what’s next after baseball.

      1. Well, Casey’s getting his. As I wrote during ST, my son was there and said that almost all of the prospects were pleasant and engaging with the fans. But not Casey Martin – he both ignored and actually mocked the fans. What a jerk. Don’t let the door hit your rear end on the way out, Casey.

          1. Reminds me of a guy who wouldn’t sign a baseball in a sweet spot so they could not sell his autograph.

          2. Here’s a quote from a text message from ST about how Casey Martin treated the fans – jackass.

”He big timed all of us, scoffed at us, laughed and walked away from everyone including the kids.”

    2. These promotions are all very cool and well deserved. We are getting to the point where we should be keep an eye on Kemp. Yes, he’s a bit older (and that’s why he’s unranked), but he’s been absolutely killing it this year. If he continues to hit like crazy in AA, we will need to start taking him seriously. But now, he’s on the radar. Pretty cool for an undrafted prospect and great job by the Phillies scouting team.

    3. Hope the promo for Miller gets him out of his struggles right now…last few weeks he has hit a wall. They seem to be pitching around him since his BB and OBP are still plus, and hitters want to swing the bat, so he could be chasing some.

  2. Yay, I love promotion days! Congrats to all the guys moving up.
Bergolla with 5 hits is pretty special. Abel still struggling unfortunately.

    1. Once it clicks there for Abel…..the turnaround should be a very pleasant surprise. It is really .a good thing he is going thru the struggle. The hope is he remains healthy and does have any arm setbacks.

        1. Maybe he’s not hurt, but his velocity is down and, like Spencer Howard a few years ago, he cannot hold his velocity more than an inning or two. So, something is clearly WRONG or has changed. Last year he was throwing between 96-98 well into the game. He’s not the same pitcher this year – which is quite clear. Whether he bounces back or not, whether it’s temporary or permanent – we really don’t know.

          1. I’ve read multiple post on him doing mechanical tinkering in his delivery that would be explain a lot if he is adjusting.

He seems frustrated about early results per reports on Twitter but it’s part of the process.

  3. I thought I just read recently that Abel and McGarry were having some back issues. is this a reason for his sub par year? I did see he pitched on Friday, though

  4. Just purchased tickets for 6/29 at Reading, will Crawford or anyone else be promoted by then?

    1. It’s possible Crawford or Aldegheri (or both) will be promoted by then. Kemp was just promoted.

  5. Figures I’ve been waiting for this moment for Miller to get to JS so I could see both he and Crawford hopefully at the same time. They are home this week and I will be heading to CO.

They are away the week I’m back and then I suspect Crawford moves up by the end of June (or maybe not) when I would have another chance to get out there.

      1. Does the Jersey Shore team publish their probable pitchers? For the next few games? I can’t seem to find one.

        1. Also wondering if the lineups are posted (and where) before I drive the hour + to see them play???

          Like

          1. Generally in the minors (at least the Phillies) they only post the lineups a few minutes before the game starts. Way way back when I would call the Reading Phillies and ask who was the starting pitcher before I drove out from Philly. You might try that with Jersey Shore

  6. I definitely want to see Klassen pitch.

I work in Wilmington, so hopefully, I’ll be free the day he pitches. I saw McGarry down there a few years ago – back when he was throwing 96-98. He struck out 13 in 5 innings and was promoted soon thereafter. He’s not pitching like that now, although the control has a bit improved. Pitching is crazy unpredictable.

  7. With his two hits today….Rickardo Perez has really been crushing the ball….though still a SSS…approx 50 PAs…..he has three HRs and is batting .340 with an OPS of .924. I really think he has put himself back on the top tier youngin’ prospect list. This is his age20 season so he is still right in the park for age to level development. If this continues, he should put himself in the top 30 of Phillies’ prospects according to MLB.com after the mid-point rankings come out. Where he plays in the field could be a concern down the road. It would be nice if the can find him some work in the corner OF positions beside 1B, and backing up catchers.

    1. As Jim mentioned the other day, some exciting hitting prospects in the FCL.

He mentioned Alirio Ferrebus in the DSL – VERY early, 6 hits (5 xbh, 3 HR) in 11 ABs … 2.145 OPS!!

Here is an interesting arm in DSL, 17-year old Alexander De Los Santos hitting 94 with some good looking breaking stuff … an arm to dream on?

      1. Tait with a 2 home run day. Average up to .259.

This is extremely impressive for a 17 year-old. The improvement curve for a hitter from ages 17-20 is significant so this is very noteworthy.

Caba showing good hit tool and, just as importantly, great speed and plate discipline. The fielding is supposed to impeccable.

  8. Didn’t mean to jinx JT with my post the other day about trading for his possible replacement lol

Tough break; hope he heals up quick

That said, I think Marchan can step in and be productive
