Box Score Recap (6/8/24)

Lehigh Valley won behind a strong performance by Tyler PhillipsRuben Cardenas had 2 HR and 6 RBI.  Reading split a doubleheader.  Robinson Pina tossed a complete game, 2-hitter for the win.  Jersey Shore rallied for 8 late runs to secure the win and pull within a half game of first place.  Clearwater wasted a solid effort by Mavis Graves and remained in a tie for first place.  The FCL Phillies came away with a one-run win to stay one game behind first place.  DSL Red shut out DSL White.


FCL Phillies (15-11) beat the Blue Jays, 3-2.  Maxwell Hernandez pitched four innings giving up one run on 5 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out six.  Kleydrive Andrade pitched two innings picked up the win pitching two innings and getting tagged with an unearned run on a hit and 2 walks.  He struck out three.  Luis Avila pitched a scoreless inning allowing 2 hits and a walk but got his fourth save.

The Phillies tied the game with a run in the third inning on an RBI single by Aroon Escobar.  They took a lead with a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Rickardo Perez.  They took the lead for good with a run in the sixth on an RBI force out by Starling Caba.

Lehigh Valley (27-33) beat Buffalo, 9-3.  Tyler Phillips pitched seven innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits, a walk, and 2 runs-scoring wild pitched.  He struck out nine and threw 94 pitches, 64 strikes.  Freddy Tarnok pitched a scoreless inning walking one.  Taylor Lehman pitched a scoreless inning striking out two.

The IronPigs tied the game with a run in the first inning on an RBI double by Ruben Cardenas.  They took the lead with a 5-spot in the second on a 2-run HR (2) by Jim Haley and a 3-run HR (12) by Ruben Cardenas.  They scored an insurance run in the seventh on a solo HR (13) by Ruben Cardenas.  They tacked on an insurance run in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk by Ruben Cardenas and an RBI fielder’s choice by Simon Muzziotti.

Lehigh Valley had 11 hits, new guy Ruben Cardenas went 3-4 with a double, 2 HR, and 6 RBI.

The BlueClaws rallied with 8 runs in the eighth and ninth innings.  They scored 4 runs in the eighth on a solo HR (1) by William Bergolla, a 2-run double by Justin Crawford, and an RBI single by Andrick Nava.  They scored 4 runs in the ninth on an RBI single by Crawford, a game-tying RBI single by Otto Kemp, a go-ahead RBI single by Leandro Pineda, and tacked on an insurance run on a bases-loaded walk by Nava.
