Lehigh Valley split a doubleheader.  Reading, Jersey Shore, and Clearwater all lost.

Lehigh Valley (3-3) split with Rochester winning 4-3 and losing7-4.  

Game One:  The IronPigs broke an early 3-3 tie with a run in the seventh inning.  After several delays, Mick Abel finally made his 2024 debut.  He threw 60 pitches in 1.2 innings only 31 for strikes.  Tyler McKay stranded 3 inherited runners and pitched 2.1 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and walking none.   Griff McGarry got the win.    Andrew Bellatti got the save with a scoreless inning and a K.

In the second inning, after a Jordan Luplow single and two-out walks by Nick Podkul and Cal Stevenson, Scott Kingery came through with an RBI single and Matt Kroon followed with a 2-run single.  Nick Podkul scored the winning run in the seventh on a fielding error on a Matt Kroon ground ball.

Matt Kroon (.417) went 2-4 with a 2B and 3 RBI.

Game Two:  The IronPigs had a brief lead in the second before falling behind and rallying short in the seventh.  Tyler Phillips suffered the loss allowing 7 runs (6 ER) on 7 hits, 3 walks, 4 K, and a HR in 3.2 innings.  Austin Brice allowed a walk and a hit while allowing 1 of two inherited runners to score in 1.1 innings.  Zac Houston allowed a hit in one inning.

The IronPigs tied the game in the second on David Dahl’s RBI double and took the lead on Esteban Quiroz‘ RBI single.

Jordan Luplow (.400) went 2-3 with a R.

Reading (1-2) lost to Bowie, 4-3.  Reading tied the game with 2 runs in the eighth. and have one back in the bottom of the inning.  Robinson Pina allowed 2 ER in 5.0 innings on 2 hits.  Tristan Garnett pitched 1.2 innings and gave up one run on 3 hits, a BB, and a K.  Beau Burrows struck out the only batter he faced.  Tommy McCollum pitched an inning and took the loss allowing 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 K.  The Phils scored a run in the fifth on Marcusa Lee Sang’s sac fly.  They scored 2 runs in the eighth on Carson Taylor’s 2-run HR.

Jersey Shore (2-1) lost to Aberdeen, 4-1.  Estibenzon Jimenez took the loss but pitched 5-1 innings allowing 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K.  Jonathan Petit allowed 2 inherited runners to score and gave up 2 R on 2 H, a BB, and a K.  Mason Ronan walked 2 and struck out 2 in one scoreless inning.  Alex Rao walked one and struck out one in one scoreless inning.  Nathan Karaffa struck out one in a scoreless inning.  The BlueClaws scored their only run in the fourth on Jordan Dissin’s RBI double.

Clearwater (2-1) lost at Bradenton, 4-0.  Mavis Graves went 4.0 innings and allowed one run on 4 hits and 2 walks with 3 K.
