  1. Glad to see Knapp won #19. I’ll vote for Encarnacion here. Considering he was one of the top International signings out there. Hoping his bat plays out wherever he switches to whether it be 1st or left.

  2. went with pullin but not with tons of conviction. Thought about jan hernadez or pujols. You can definitely tell we have moved out of the craziness of the 5-20 mess of prospects.

  3. I’ll go with Encarnacion here too. Seems like the right place to put a much-touted mystery man–high enough that it won’t seem entirely embarrassing if he starts tearing things up.

After a very interesting 10-20, I think we’re starting to reach the garbage time portion of the voting. I’ll probably vote Hernandez next, then Watson, then Pujols, then … Perkins and Collier look like utility outfielders. Though I still have some hope for Collier, this is a make-or-break season for him. Then … Pullin? I dunno, that .283 OBP is scary! That’s like a decent *batting* average for a 2B. Just 7 walks all season. Mecias and Morgan are injured, though Mecias less seriously so than Morgan. Then there’s a bunch of guys that are just generic names to me from the box scores.

Still think LGJr. should be someplace in the conversation once we get to around #25. Let’s say for the sake of argument that his problems are in part related to his weight and conditioning. Can’t that be addressed more easily than, say, Morgan’s shoulder or Mecias’ elbow? Just a though, for the sake of argument. I do like power hitters.

  4. Kevin Munson. Plus sinker (touching 95). Plus Slider (K pitch). Ground ball tendencies. New and improved control in 2013, Good chance of sticking in MLB all year in 2014. He could be the Phils’ 8th inning set-up guy by June.

    1. I’m kind of torn on the idea of including Rule 5 picks on this list, since they are only Phillies prospects in the loosest sense of the term (he could easily be property of the Diamondbacks in 2 months).

      1. Or a graduated prospect. I downgraded Inciarte last year because he seemed unlikely to ever be a prospect for the Phils. In the end, he made them half their $50k back. That’s not much for value, but it’s better than someone who never makes the show for even a day, or someone like, say Mike Cisco, who gets traded for “friendship” or whatever you call it when you get nothing back in a trade.

  5. I’ll go Watson here because reports are that his injury is not as significant as other shoulder injuries and he will likely be fine. Still a very big risk, mind you, but I think he has a lot of upside.

  6. Time for Watson. This assumes that the surgery was a little less serious than Morgan as there have been good reports on his rehab.

  7. I voted for Cameron Perkins.

Looking through stats from this year, two other players caught my attention.

Hoby Milner had a really good year! He’ll be next for me.

Keive Rojas had another great year. Yes, he’s a reliever, but 11 K/9 and good control. please add him to the poll.

    1. It seems like his ceiling isn’t as high as some other young arms we have in the system, but now is a good time to start considering him. He’s probably in the next group of 3-5 for me.

  8. For me, the next group is Watson, Pujols and Encarnacion, with Perkins right behind. I saw Perkins in the AFL all-star game and he looked like a permanent AAAA player at first glance. He needs to put on a good 20 pounds of muscle because, otherwise, he doesn’t hit quite well enough, have quite enough power, or quite enough plate discipline to make him a corner outfielder in the majors and, from available reports, while he’s a competent outfielder, he doesn’t appear to have the type of plus defense required to make him a valuable spare part. Has to develop power and make progress with plate discipline. That’s why, currently, he’s in the mid-20s for me. If he comes in to ST much stronger, I’d be happy to see that and would gladly reconsider this evaluation.

    1. For me, it’s Encarnacion, Perkins, Pujols and Mecias in some order. Then I’ll start looking at Watson and some other 2013 draft picks.

I haven’t seen Perkins live but I have the same outlook on him. I find it interesting, in a bad way, that his LD% in Clearwater was only 10.7% and he still had a .330 BABIP.
