I kept looking around the boxes for good stuff to talk about, and kept landing on Vance Worley. So I left that line in for us to check out. Aside from that, Lakewood pitchers shut down the Delmarva Shorebirds – Miguel Nunez allowed 1 R on 1H and 2BB in 6 IP and Jordan Guth got the three inning save. Also in that game, Roman Quinn had a triple and 3Ks. Fun.

  1. DSL starts on Saturday. June 6 is the first day of the draft. Cam Perkins is keeping things interesting. The weather is warming, the no-see-’ems are swarming, The beer is cold and the dogs are hot. Pass the spicy mustard and let’s get the baseball going.

  2. Happy for Vance, I doubt he’ll ever be an above average starting pitcher in the big leagues, but he should have a better career than what he demonstrated this year so far in the majors. Hope he turns it around. I really need to vent about the Phillies so I’m hoping that General Discussion thread pops up real soon…..

  4. Tocci with a .256/.299/.311 line in May. The SLG is not going to scare anybody, but he is trending upward for a 17-year-old in the SAL. Also, his K rate is down significantly from last year (12.7 from 16.8) while his BB rate is virtually the same (5.5/5.6). Obviously there are many improvements that need to take place (much higher BB rate, more power), but he’s been impressive given the circumstances.

  5. Tocci with a double and a single is now batting above .225. Given his age, he is holding his own nicely in SAL and deserves to finish the season there.

    1. Tocci’s line doesn’t look that great, but when compared to Maikel Franco at age 17, in the GCL, it puts Tocci’s line in the SAL in perspective.

  9. Let’s not minimize what Nunez is doing. At one time, he was a big time signing for us. Maybe it just took 2 years to get healthy and figure things out. He’s flying up our prospect ranking board.

    1. It’s hard to get excited about a guy striking out 4 batters per 9 in Lakewood. Even if he did miss a lot of time.

  10. What does Robles throw if anyone knows? I get that he is 24 in AA but his k/9 is 13.1 and that doesn’t come around very often combined with a 1.13 WHIP.

    So is it smoke and mirror5s or does he have real stuff?

    2. I don’t know about right now, but he was a big time prospect with the Mariners and at one point was running it up to 95, he lost it at some point and was only touching 91. He has flashed a plus changeup before as well as an inconsistent curveball. But I don’t have anything first hand right now

      1. Well for those of us frustrated with Tony and Horst he looks enticing to me right now. I thought I heard 95 on the FB when we got him so I’ve been paying attention to his numbers.

        1. I saw him pitch. He still had the FB velocity and still lacked the FB control. He is not ready for prime time. Less stuff and less control than Aumont.

  12. Mecias pitched up a storm tonight and over his last handful of starts has really put together some impressive stuff. That’s a nice development
