Hi everyone. Before I get to this, I just want to say thank you to everyone who left their kind words in my previous post. I did not take this decision to move on lightly, this is something that has been on my mind for a while. I have new projects that I want to devote my time to (non-baseball related) and there are aspects of my life that I have not spent enough time on that require more of my attention. In many ways, this site was like a child, and I would rather pass the child on to a loving parent than to become a deadbeat dad. Saying that…

Gregg has agreed to take over control of the site. My only request from Gregg is that the site was never to be sold. Gregg will now take full control and be providing content. Anyone else who has contributed here (and I am eternally grateful) should contact Gregg about continuing on and helping out. Gregg is free to move forward with the site as he sees fit, including content and layout. You can follow Gregg on twitter (@PhuturePhilz) and you already should be, as he regularly tweets updates from the day’s games. Gregg is working on creating a new email address for the site, and when he has all of that set up he will let everyone know how to contact him.

As I mentioned, the site will never be sold, so it won’t “go away”, and everything that has been written here will remain here forever. Gregg has been around for years, he’s kept you completely up to date on the happenings in Reading and Lehigh Valley, and in a way he’s been a better parent for this site than me in the last 2-3 years. I have no doubt that the quality of the site will not drop at all, and in fact, I believe it may actually improve. I am very thankful that Gregg agreed to step in. I would hope that you will extend him the same respect and you would continue to show the respect for the site that you have in the past. As I previously mentioned, I’m extremely proud of what this site has become, and I will be proud when I check in down the road 6 months from now and see the discussions raging on in a respectful, well thought out tone.

I may pop in to the comments section at some point to offer my two cents. I may even write a guest post, but I simply can’t commit to anything right now. Its been a really special 5+ years, I’m really thankful for all of the support, the kind words, and everything else. As to passing along the site (and this is NOT in any way directed to Gregg), you should consider taking the formal steps to retain ownership of the site and its intellectual property and merely permit others to run it. This way, you can ensure that it never gets sold. I may be able to assist you with this process (through others I know), so please let me know if you would like to explore that possibility.

  6. James, my knowledge of minor leagues in general has grown leaps and bounds the past 4-5 years following this site. Godspeed and good luck in all your future endeavours. Gregg, I’ve always enjoyed your Hot v. Not lists and AAA/AA weekly updates, so if the rest of the content you have in mind to provide is similar to what you’ve provided to us crazies in the past, may it continue.   10. I like this site so much I actually had a dream about it last night! Thank you PP for all you’ve done, and Greg for continuing this site. I really hope you’ve got some grand plans. I know I would in your shoes! Can’t wait to see how things continue to evolve.

  13. James, from the bottom of my heart: Thanks for running this site. It’s been a wonderful resource and provided all of us regulars hours upon hours of enjoyment. I really hope that you will at least do a guest post post-draft for your analysis.

    And best of luck to Gregg. This site is in good hands.

    One quick question: I’m going to the Lakewood game tomorrow, and I plan on giving a firsthand report. To whom should I send my write-up, or should I just post it within an appropriate thread?

  14. Sorry to see you go James. You have every reason to be proud of what you built here. I know you’ve had to reel us in at times but the tone and quality of the content and discussions on this site fly’s directly in the face of the stereotypes of the typical Philadelphia sports fan and Internet commentators in general. I think that tone has everything to do with you, so thanks for everything! Gregg has been nothing but class on here as well and I’m sure he’ll do a great job.

    This site has become a daily stop for me over the past 5 years, in and out of season – though I rarely comment. The content is exceptional, but the thoughtful and focused dialog you have cultivated makes makes the site and community special. Thanks for giving life to the site and safeguarding its future. James- You have brought me hours of enjoyment via this site and I can’t thank you enough. the PhuturePhils have always been a passion of mine (dating back to the days of subscribing to Phillies Report magazine and scouring though the minor league stats that were 2 weeks old because there was no internet- I bet I am not the only one in that boat). Long live the site and Gregg. I plan to attend a bunch of games this summer and am glad I will still have a place to report my observations.

    I have been here since I believe the Savery draft, regardless I was very happy when I found the site & thrilled that it will be sticking around……I will definitely miss your expansive info on the draft picks and I hope someone has the time/ability to pick up where you leave off with that.
