There are some ongoing discussions that will hopefully allow the site to continue on as the number one forum to discuss the Phillies Minor League System. Give us a few days to work out some details, but the hope is, come the weekend there will be some positive news to share.

I sure hope so. While I do not comment much, there is not a day that goes by that I do not jump on to catch up. Sorry PP has to go thanks for all the hard work, Pal.

So do I…losing the site would be losing a huge resource for Phillies prospect news. Hopefully the discussions are for Gregg and a few others to take over the site with James coming by as a guest contributor when time permits.
I, for one, will really miss James’ prospect write ups for the Top 30 list and Draft Recaps. Even if he had time just to do those two things (Both of which are massively time intensive on his part unfortunately), it would be awesome.
I’d hate to see the site go away.

James has done a great job of keeping the focus of the site on the minor league system. I just hope who ever picks up his crown continues that effort.

I only know about what’s going on and who to keep an eye on in the Phils’ system because of this site. There is none like it anywhere. While I understand that life sometimes gets in the way, I truly hope you are able to somehow keep this site going. My best friend and I absolutely love it and come here each day for info and boxscores, keeping and eye on the Phils top prospects. We’d both be sad to see this site vanish. Thanks for the great content all these years!!

Very disappointed with losing a great resource. I dont comment much but always read through most everything. I’m a season ticket holder @ Reading, get my Baseball America and love the chatter and info. I’d rather see the site sold off rather than dissolved!!!

James, this site is great, especially around draft time. I wouldn’t blame you if you sold it and made some money from all your hard work. You deserve it. Again, hope to not see it dissolved.

One other idea (request) if you leave, will you at least chime in over at candystrippers around draft time. Love your insight! Hope to see you back over there and I am sure those people would love to see you posting there too.

This is good news after reading James’ piece!! Where else can I go to ask the question who will the Phils promote if Nix goes on the DL? This might sound bizarre but the 40 man roster is full and Dom is hurt and the only position player left is Gillies. They could release Sanches or Contreras for a spot but they’d need to add a pitcher back to the 40 man.
Btw – I went to the Reading game yesterday but I’m not sure if a full recap is appropriate here. All I’ll say is 1) Pettibone looked great with a slider or sinker that was diving and unhittable all day and he threw 89 -91 most of the day, 2) Gillies looked really good and also made an amazing diving full extension catch, and 3) Ruf needs to be at AAA, he looked terrific and absolutely crushed the ball 3 times. I saw Riz play at Reading several times, Ruf looks much better offensively and defensively (although he will not win any gold gloves).
Where else will I be able to post this stuff????

For those who like the boxscores, I find Baseball America’s Prospect Report an invaluable resource. All the relevant prospect linescores from yesterday’s games.

I was wondering if something was wrong when the prospects film was not updated for so long. I am glad to hear it is just time and other obligations. It could be a lot worse. I want to thank you for all you did. I put you up there with Baseball America, as my favorite baseball sites. Thanks again and the best to you in the future.

If you need help, just post contact details and I’d be happy to jump on. I’ve been following this site since the very very beginning, although I’ve posted less and less as the years passed. It would be an honor to be able to contribute to keep it going.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, but apparently Schwimer tweeted that Diekman, Valdes and Luna have been recalled by the Phils (well, Valdes and Luna were not on the 40-man roster, so not recalled in their cases). I did not hear of any corresponding demotion/DFA/transfer to 60-day DL moves other than Savery being sent down.
Here’s the link that was forwarded to me:

Sanches is probably going to be DFA’d.
Kratz optioned.
Howard/Utley/DeFratus to 60 day DL?

I would guess the same, no offense to Sanches.

Sorry, I cut & pasted the Twitter link. When posted though, it gave the text from Schwimer’s tweet. Let’s see if this works:

Todd Zolecki is now reporting the same thing on his blog and guesses that Sanches and Kratz may be sent down and Nix may be going to the DL (he was unable to confirm the call-ups with the Phils). Again, from what I recall, neither Valdes, nor Luna were on the 40-man roster, and the Phils were at 40, so 2 will have to go (and I doubt they will DFA Kratz as he is their 3rd catcher. I can’t see the Phils risk losing Kratz unless they feel comfortable with someone else as the 3rd catcher). Just guessing, but it could be that they put someone on the 60-day DL (DeFratus?) and DFA’ed someone (Sanches?) to open the spots up.

I think Nix wil go on the DL and I think they’ll put DeFratus on the 60 day DL to open 1 spot. Valdes will probably take Sanches’ or Contreras’ spot but with the money commitment to Contreras, I’m assuming Sanches’. They could even try to resign him to AAA. Unfortunately, Qualls, Bastardo, and Contreras are all also hurting…

Thank you for the site. I have been visiting every single day for 5 years- it is a part of my daily routine that I just can’t see myself without. I appreciate all of the time an effort that you have put into it over the years.
Sentimentality out of the way, I actually don’t really understand the logic behind giving up on it, though. Why would you drop the .01% of your creative endeavors that have been successful for the sake of pursuing more that won’t be? For someone so logically inclined, that move doesn’t really make sense.
If you were going to abort it, you could have just sold it to someone before announcing that you were done with it to your readership. It would have taken months for anyone to even notice so long as the new owner just said, “Hey I’m going to an ad format” and continued copy and pasting box scores.
Anyway, it is a WordPress site and it costs $18 a year to maintain.

Just want to add my thanks. I’m an infrequent commenter, but I check this site multiple times a day. It’s by far my favorite phillies website. Your top 30 this year in particular was a masterpiece. I hope things continue and that you drop by from time to time. Thanks again.
