  1. I’m slightly surprised by the release of Brian Gump. Not because of ability, but because it seems that Clearwater doesn’t seem to have any OFs right now. Unless the team plans on holding back 2 of Gillies/JJames/LCastro, it would seem Gump would be their 4th outfielder.

  2. Clearwater will have Alvarez, Hewitt, possibly Lavin…they could hold back Castro since he only played 50 games last yr and he could move up when Collier is back. They also have Brandon Tripp who played at Clearwater when Castro went down. I think Reading will start with Gillies, James, Clevelen, and Susodorf. I think Lakewood will go with a combination of Hudson, Alvarez, Eldemire, and Dugan (maybe Pointer as well).

  3. I liked the website set up by Brian Gump. Either he’s just graduated college with a writing/journalism degree from UC Santa Barbara or he’s just about to. He documented life for a minor leaguer very well and it might result in a book deal.. I think he’ll “get to the majors”, only it will be as a sports writer or sports broadcaster, but not as a player. Good Luck, Brian.

pitchers Ryan Feierabend, Kasey Kiker, John Mariotti, Jesus Pirela, Casey Barnes and Lionel Bastida; infielder Alan Schoenberger and outfielder Brian Gump.

More cuts are expected following this week.  Final minor league games at Carpenter Complex are March 31.
