  1. Let me re-phrase, there isn’t a chance that Cosart makes the team next year. I suppose injuries could pile up and eventually he gets the call, but even that’s unlikely. Cosart will be a part of the Opening Day 2012 rotation, at best.

  2. James, I don’t think he meant Cosart will make the Phillies. I think he meant make the futures game again next year.

  3. On the whole, I’m really excited about our farm team, granted we’re not the Rays, Braves, or Rangers, but there are some solid prospect in low ball. Especially excited about the Lakewood staff, we could get some real 1-2-3 guys from there

  4. Sloppy, sloppy baseball from the World team so far. I’d love to see Dom get up with the bases full here.

  5. Just saw brown run the bases and he looks like he’s real aggressive base runner he needs to calm down a bit on the base paths. He almost ran himself into outs twice and it’s only the 1 st inning!!

  6. Is it just me or are these announcers not acknowledging Dom as a top prospect? They haven’t really given him one compliment.

  7. hopefully nothing serious for Brown. Don’t have a game till Thur I think. Gets four days to rest it.

  8. Mike Moustakas looks pretty good out there. Never saw him play before. Expected him to play 3B like a trained bear. He is looks like he is legit. Not a Pat Burrel or Matt Gamel or the like.

  9. I live in Wilmington and saw Moustakas and Hosmer play quite a bit for the Blue Rocks. Moustakas always did something each game at 3rd to prove he was legit there, even though he had a down offensive year last year. Hosmer was overmatched last year after he came up to High A but this year he has been a monster.

  10. My apologies to Sam. That makes more sense. I agree, I was really disappointed that we didn’t get a chance to see Cosart on TV. Hopefully next year!

Brown is so fast – I was really impressed with the way he hustled down the line for that infield single.

  11. Our system is really coming together. Those ratings don’t even take into account guys like Colvin and to a lesser extent Shreve. Lots of great young pitching in the lower minors.

  12. Colby Shreve’s success has to be taken in context. He is older than both JC Ramirez and Aumont but is playing at a lower level. In the case of Ramirez, he being 2 levels ahead, but 7 months younger than Shreve. Shreve is not one of the top 7 pitching prospects in the organization yet.

  13. but shreve missed 2 entire seasons, that weighs a lot in the thought process of who is more advanced….

Of course he isn’t. He lost way too much time to be at that level. However, he was considered a pretty good prospect even with the injury when we drafted him.

What do you expect? Gary Thorne is a good announcer but he’d hardly know a lot about the minor leagues. Rick Sutcliffe is a former pitcher who I’ve never seen in prospect discussions before. And all I know about JP Riccardi’s prospect knowledge is that he didn’t like to sign them.
