It appears wordpress has started to place ads

It was brought to my attention that there are google ads being inserted into the “possibly related posts” section that shows up under the text of new entries. I don’t know when this started, but I think it is a recent phenomenon. As far as I know, there is no way for me to disable this. I didn’t notice it because I use ad-blocking extensions to block this crappy ads. I’m going to look for solutions to get rid of these ads, but because wordpress is a free hosting site, I don’t think I can get rid of them. For now, I suggest doing the following

If you use Firefox, install Ad Block or something similar

If you use Google Chrome (which is my browser of choice), also has Ad Block.
If I come up with something else, I’ll let you know.

  1. Yea I noticed those. I actually saw a banner ad once in the same area of a post, just thought you finally decided to put in ads.

Also, occasionally when you click one of the most recent comments it brings you to the “make a donation” paypal page. Hasn’t happened to me anytime soon though.

  2. Sorry to break up the book club, but feel free to throw out some recommendations if you have any good ones, I’m always looking for a good beach read.

Just sell ads man. You do all this work, I and love the look of the site, but I think you deserve to make a buck or two of all the work. It may not be much, but the content here is great, and you really deserve some compensation for it.

  4. You really should sell some ads, I doubt any users would mind and you’d make some money to keep this thing going.
