The Good Phight, basically the greatest Phillies site known to man, recently had a chance to interview RJ Swindle, the super soft tossing lefty currently slinging his vaseline balls at Lehigh Valley. Swindle has generated plenty of interest here, I’ve gotten lots of emails about him, so if you’re curious, or just learning his story now, you definitely want to head over to TGP and check out the excellent interview he gave. Sounds like an insightful guy, and even though it appears the Phillies have no intention of giving him a shot, hopefully he’ll catch on somewhere down the road and have a chance to carve out a big league career for himself.

A duck fart? I loved the interview. I like what RJ’s doing. Keep doing it and someone’s got to give him a chance. If he can get lefties out and an occasional righty too, he’ll be valuable. Although the pen has been the shinning star this year, everyone keeps saying the big club needs another lefty in the pen. Here’s the guy. All he does is get people out.

It is good to see Swidle having a good year. I was never quite sure what to make of him last year at Clearwater.

I say we need to move up Swindle or some other lefty and trade Madson. Madson seems to have no definte role, and hasn’t looked great. Plus we need another lefty in the pen. Madson should be included in any trades.
