The news just keeps getting better. Looks like Big Z might be going under the knife. At least his hamstring should be healed in 12 months when he starts pitching again.

  2. That’s one down, possibly many more to go. A shame for Zagurski, as I was really hoping he could rebound this year from the couple of rough outings that ended his 2007.

    This has to be good news for Blackley, right? They’ll be loathe to cut him loose now with no help waiting in the wings.

    And speaking of injured lefties… is Matt Smith still floating around somewhere?

  4. The Phils dropped Smith a while back and no one claimed him. So he’s back with the team somewhere still recovering from his TJ surgery. We may see him again some day.

    Blackley was released and Darensbourg sent to the minors it looks like. Second lefty in the pen? Maybe a waiver wire pick up. They have two open slots on their 40 man so there’s room.
