Early Blue Claw sightings

From Blue Claws PR: Not the biggest news, but its a start!

Galvis, Mattair, Brown all expected to start campaign with the BlueClaws

Lakewood has already produced a number of Major League stars and it appears a few more former BlueClaws are on their way to Big League fame. The 2008 season could produce the latest crop of future Phillies, with a number of big prospects likely starting the season in Lakewood.

Freddy Galvis

Freddy Galvis, an 18-year old shortstop renowned for his spectacular defense, will likely join fellow prospects Travis Mattair and Dominic Brown in Lakewood this season. As Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Bill Conlin said in his column this week, “FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood might be the hottest Jersey shore destination this summer since Springsteen was rocking his way out of Class A Asbury Park.”

  1. Yes, Reading and Lakewood look like the best of the Phillies pharm for this summer. With the extra draft picks and additional Latin American players coming over this summer, hopefully the Clearwater GCL team will also be quite strong.

  2. My parents live right by Lakewood. Any suggestions from anyone on which teams I should see the Blue Claws play? I usually try and catch 5-10 games there a year.

  3. On d’Arby: what happened to him in ’07?

Looks like he hit a wall after starting out well. Injuries? Or did his prior season success induce him to take his progress for granted…and forgot to work on necessary stuff??

    Curious.

  4. D’Arby, just like Freddy Galvis had an injury in “07”, D’Arby is back now and he is doing well.

  5. Great to see Sampson might pitch there already. Looks like he has the control to do it.
